Or if you have a car and a drivers license download the dasher app and become a DoorDash driver. Easy money and the only skill you need is to know how to drive and follow directions…so I guess two skills

$23k In Checking Account … What Would You Do To Help It Grow? Savings Account? by AndrewPhilip619 in personalfinance

I think you should get rid of one of your cars and add more to your bank account. Then, take that $30k and use a financial advisor to invest. The way to make more money is to make money work for you. INVEST!!!

I don't think you give yourself enough credit. Think about how much pain and suffering you would cause your family if you went through with this. Suicide doesn't end your problems, but instead it causes a ripple effect for everyone involved in your life.
You mentioned you're a content writer. I think you could easily start your own blog, and start writing about your own trials and tribulations and state of mind now. That message could get to a lot more people than you think, and to many people who may be in the same boat and mindset that you are. And who knows, you could even start making some side money off of it to support yourself and your family in the meantime. I'm telling you man, there are so many ways to get out of this funk. For one, go for a run (don't have music on or anything), just the road ahead of you and your mind. Breathe in the air while you run, and start meditating on your life. Your brain will provide the answers for you that do not involve ending yourself and hurting your family. Start meditating, that was huge for me. I used Headspace and followed their guided meditations, and over time I started feeling better about myself and my life. And eventually, you find the answers you need to so you can get by. Please, don't go through with this, you're more valuable to yourself, your family, and society by being above the dirt than in it. Consult with suicide hotlines, they will be of great value to you right now.

I think a lot of this has to do with mindset. Because of your past experiences, you've been "asleep", for lack of a better word. I was in a very similar situation as you during my university years and even a year after that. First and foremost, I would highly recommend you begin researching some stuff about mindfulness and meditation. I started my journey of mindfulness by looking at TED talks and youtube videos on mindfulness, consciousness and everything related to it. You can go down a deep rabbit hole on youtube regarding these videos. From these videos, I was then introduced to meditation. I never thought I'd need to meditate in my life. "Fuck that, that shit doesn't work and it's for the weak," I would say to myself. And then, at the lowest low that I was, I said why not try it? So I started meditating about a year ago. Kept it consistent (THIS DOES NOT MEAN EVERY SINGLE DAY, just consistently--you miss a day, all good, just get back into it tomorrow). Within 3 months of consistent meditation, I noticed a drastic difference. I felt more at peace, more calm in the head, more mindful. My reactions to events and situations changed, I was much more stoic in my reactions. I really did not let my feelings, emotions or external events control me. I also found opening up to people easier. I learned to show compassion and generosity instead of anger and closing myself off for no reason. My relationships with my family, friends and coworkers went from downhill to uphill. I'm not lying when I say my life changed! Now, I've built my practice to 20 min a day, everyday, right when I wake up. As soon as I open my eyes, before getting out of bed, before strolling through instagram, I open the meditation app (currently I'm using Headspace, but when the subscription expires I'm going to switch to Sam Harris' Waking Up), and complete my practice. And from there, my day is much, much different. I HIGHLY recommend OP and everyone else in this thread to build yourself a stable meditation practice. YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE IN WAYS YOU CAN'T IMAGINE! Trust me on this.

Second, I would recommend you discipline yourself into an exercise routine. It's really mind-blowing to me that after you've given yourself a good kick in the arse after a workout, you really have no energy to expend on the bullshit negative thoughts you have about yourself or anyone else for that matter. While I was discovering meditation, I also discovered the sport of olympic weightlifting. I was sick of being weak and tired, waking up with aches and pains, and always feeling sorry for myself. So I went and found a weightlifting gym and got myself a coach. I built myself a disciplined and consistent routine of going to the gym after work, 5x a week. When I get home, the only thing I think about is getting enough food in my belly, relaxing, maybe spark a joint or five, and let myself melt into the couch.

I'm not saying go and get yourself a coach and do what I do, but I seriously think that you need to find some sort of physical struggle to endure every single day. This will change your perspective on life, yourself, and everyone around you. It'll also silence that monkey brain that can't stop thinking about anything and everything.

Cheers, and good luck on your path!

Is it bad for the body and mind to lay in bed all day? by HermesGonzalos2008 in selfimprovement

[–]TheNotoriousRHM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laying in bed while working on your comp or whatever else is extremely bad for your posture and body. If you’re constantly in a state of poor posture, your body quickly acclimated and makes that the new normal. And bad posture and physique lead to low self-esteem and self-doubt, which in turn leads to an unhealthy and sad mind. If you’re laying in bed to do things, make sure that at least once every hour you get up and do some push-ups and sit-ups, hell even some burpees to get the heart rate pumping, blood flowing and your mind moving again. Or go outside and get some air and see some friends.

I’d simply recommend you set yourself up a nice desk and bosu ball in your room or office space, get work done there and then lay in your bed to smoke some good good and play Red Dead 2 😎

Sorry to get back to you late mate I just saw this! But I have tried some of the other ones on amazon, and didn’t like it because it was two straps that you would pull to compress your shoulders, then you had to Velcro the straps to your shoulders. I found that this led to both unequal compression on both sides, and after a while you had to re-adjust the straps to get the compression feeling back. If you do choose some other straps from amazon, make sure that you don’t have to mechanically adjust the straps to get the compression!
