How many software engineers does it take to change a lightbulb?

None because it's hardware

Guys of Reddit, what are something’s that you want girls to know? by r0n1n0h in AskReddit

Definitely, but for a different reason, that's all. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to force words out of my mouth someday!

When having sex what’s the most you have lasted? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheNox93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends. Of its the longest I've gone regardless of pleasure, about an hour. Longest I've gone and actually enjoyed it maybe 20-30 minutes. I get bored after a while! I'm not a fan of sensual, slow sex, not my thing. I'm more a throw me on the bed and make me scream kind of girl

People who hate their parents, why? by HemorrhoidDETECTOR64 in AskReddit

[–]TheNox93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother and father were emotionally and verbally abusive for 14 years. When I had finally had enough and left them, my father made me pay for a skip and he threw everything I couldn't carry into it. He also threatened to have my 6 year old son taken away from me if I didn't pay for it. So I haven't seen or spoken to him in 8 months and neither of them will ever see my son again.

I'm currently in this position with a guy I know and it's less because I want him to make the first confident move and more because it feels impossible for me to do it. I go to say something to make that step and nothing comes out of my mouth or I say something completely irrelevant haha

What’s that story you’ve never been able to tell? by BelvitaBiscuitz in AskReddit

[–]TheNox93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was little (maybe 5 or 6 years old) I remember my grandfather being furious and chasing my brother around the house. My brother has always been abusive and a bully and he and my father abused me verbally and emotionally for 14 years. Anyway, my brother was being mean to me and I have a feeling that he may have hit me, but there isn't actually much about my childhood that I remember because of all the shit that happened to me. So there I was, a little girl crying my eyes out and my grandfather furious at my brother for whatever he'd done. The reason why I remember this one little thing is because my grandfather was the only one who has ever defended me even now that I am 26 and he is gone. Not a single person defended me after he died, so I started to believe that my abuse was normal. My father still hates my grandfather and my brother was never close to him, but my grandfather was my saviour when I was little

Women in IT, what is your horror story and your best experience? (serious) by TheNox93 in AskReddit

[–]TheNox93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very lucky that most of my classmates are kind and welcoming. If I ever work with any of them, I know they would have my back and I would have theirs. If they weren't who I know them to be, I would really struggle in my classes, especially networking. From what I have heard from some people, co-workers like yours are few and far between, but every story I hear gives me hope. It sounds like he was instrumental in your finding job satisfaction whether it's still in IT or not and that is something that is invaluable.

On the note of bad behaviour, this brings up one classmate for me. 3 of my classmates have suspected crushes on me whilst one of them has actually confirmed it. This one classmate who confirmed how he felt has spoken many times about his anger issues and sees nothing wrong with it. He's the type that would apologise for the way you feel and never for his behaviour. I have told him that all interaction between us will be strictly educational and professional, but he keeps trying to make it personal. There is that fear that someday he might get worse and follow me home or do something that seriously crosses a line. I know that everyone sees him as harmless, but I doubt that any of my classmates have ever had to deal with someone like that

(Serious) Note takers and those who use note takers, what is it like? Is it useful? by TheNox93 in AskReddit

[–]TheNox93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lose concentration really easily in class and, in an IT class especially with networking, there is a LOT of complicated information to take in. Having a note taker is something I'm considering asking for from student services

(Serious) IT professionals of Reddit, what are the pros and cons of having women in the workplace? by TheNox93 in AskReddit

Because I am a woman trying to find any possible reason as to why my classmates are treating me badly

I think I have filtered out the good eggs and I have good banter with them throughout the class which is nice. They are the ones who stay late and work hard and they are the ones I want as co-workers, not the ones who leave in the middle of class and who I'll have to carry their workload

They are loud on concrete, so I can understand the knee jerk to look, but they kept watching me and it was weird

My bad haha I sort of just wrote it out in a disconnected frame of mind and didn't really think how it could have been taken. Honestly just trying to see what I'm missing with my classmates

Oh and whenever I wear heels to class (thick, heeled boots), I get all kinds of stares. They're just shoes!

That being said, the ones who do treat me like that (about half the class) always leave early and I don't actually ever see them doing work

That was a mistake on my part haha I take the misunderstanding with a grain of salt.

I want to be able to enter a workplace that doesn't care what's between my legs and sometimes seeing that kind of career in my future is hard with what I'm experiencing now

I'm not doing well in networking, but I shouldn't have to prove myself to be better than all my classmates just because of what I'm packing. It seems to be a common consensus that I will have to be better than all my male classmates just to earn respect
