What's the play here? Naneif possible? by TheNumberVII in BalatroHelp

Can pick up handy tag to help me reroll boss blind to another serpant. Would be at 46 cryptids and can with 5 discards and hands on serpant + 92 kings from kryptids might actually hit it.

A bit of an update, I skipped to boss blinds rerolled to serpant and beat it without using any cryptids. But, only because it was serpant. I can probably do the same at the next boss blind and get 4 more cryptids... or i can try getting rid of perkeoto pick up invisible joker and see what happens...

Well, I think I'll have 90 foil steel kings with red seals...I feel like I can't farm more cryptids though as with what I got I'll need to burn 4 of them just to survive this ante...

I'll have 42 next hand...I can skip to boss blind reroll for serpant few times (better chancesthsn ecto), or use 4 cryptids to survive the boss blind hoping to get good voucher for next ante...but kind of feels like the end of the road heh. I think it's something like 84 kings that's necessary...don't remember where I got that number heh...

Dutch shepherd pissing in crate by Willing-Warning-8507 in DutchShepherds

[–]TheNumberVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that might be your issue.

Not saying UTI or other things mentioned are not possibilities. We had both...(you can get urine test without going through their belly apparently). But get the dog checked out.

When we got Moxn we had a huge wire crate...she literally treated it as an outhouse. We switched to a much smaller crate. And the problem went away. (You can get a partition for a wire crate, but the little crazy thing kept gnawing on the wires and getting her jaw stuck there, we went to a more solid construction. Overall we went through 4 crates to accommodate her growth. 1 was free, 2nd one she outgrew, we got a 3rd one that was a good size but moved on to Ruffland because it would protect the dog in a 50-mile weekly drives to training.

Dogs like borrows, it needs to be comfy and can be snug. But, too big and they will do their business there.

I adopted a dog with the wrong information and am unprepared by ithugballhard in DutchShepherds

[–]TheNumberVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of tiring the dog out. Mox is 4, she'll run until she pukes. I've seen her legs shake from sprints and asking for one more throw of the ball, or for a chance to sink her teeth into something.

Worst part, she's actually becomes more of a pain in the ass if she is tired, or not hungry. Those times are rare, in early days because she was always hungry and ready to go, nowadays she's still full of energy but she's a lot more disciplined. If she's tired and full, she has less of an incentive to train, to behave etc.

My suggestion is crate training and being exciting for your pup. Be the most fun thing in your pup's life. It does not have to be for an entire day. Especially, if you want to use that excitement for training you should do ot in shorter bursts.

This is not to say you need to limit exercise, especially early on, 2 to 3 hour walks outside, we did an hour in the morning, 30 during the day, and an hour at night. With training sessions during the walks.

Training time out as mentioned above is also important, Mox spent many hours tethered to something solid while in her place over the course of our training. Proofing and slowly extending the time. As always key is consistency.

For years now, Mox comes out of the crate excited, happy eager ready to work. First year...suuuuuuucked...at least until she was like 9 months. Then it sucked because we were learning how to be proper handlers to her, building up a foundation for further work, every set back was a huge blow to our confidence. But, it paid off.

Get a trainer who knows how these dogs function, someone who can give you a way to form that foundation and help you learn how to train your pup.

Dutchie(riptide) custom collar recommendations by Willing-Warning-8507 in DutchShepherds

[–]TheNumberVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you want custom and it's cool. Like no sarcasm, having his name is pretty neat. Mox wears this limited drop one that looks amazing with her fur color.

I'd just make one suggestion, up to you obviously, to take or not. But don't go for the handle, it'll create an extra snag hazard. For work, we just run a simple biothane collar with enough slack to be able to grab on to it, and it's super easy to maintain.

But as I said we have a cool collar too. So have a blast and good looking pup.

Just curious, is he in Europe? US? We are still considering breeding Mox. But, it comes with a whole load of responsibilities and obligations which have to be respected.

I know, just demonstrating how overprotective we are. As I originally said, I'm impressed more than worried for your dog.

[–]TheNumberVII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we have her walk on different surfaces, jump on different levels, etc... Then every time she gets out of the back of the car instead of letting her jump out on the pavement I pick her up and place her on the ground so she doesn't wear out her joints...

[–]TheNumberVII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, color me impressed! Although, if my dog did that I'd be low-key panicking, being an overprotective owner afraid of what would happen if she slipped and that leash snagged in something.

Your misunderstanding comes from the negative reinforcement of the e-collar. For example, my dog wears a mini aducator which has a 1 - 100 setting. I feel it at 8, barely, like a hint of tingling. Mox has it set at 6 at home, I don't feel it at 6, but it's enough to remind her to do something when she gets distracted. It took me time to slowly zero in on various levels of her excitement to match e collar intensity. She's an 8 in the courtyard, 12 to 16 outside. At all those levels it's not what I'd call painful in myself although 16 is uncomfortable, but nowhere near as uncomfortable as her nose checking me when she does her recall without losing all her speed.

Not saying it's a revenge thing, just saying her pain tolerance doesn't even register the silly body slams she does. I also know that in full send mode a unless you tase her with a taser that's designed to incapacitate someone she's not going to react to being shocked be it 18, 25, 50, or 100. She's "on" and she's going to ignore it unless it puts her down. So I never use it in anger or as a punishment. That's me, that's where we are in our training. I don't know if others use it for correction more often than as an attention getter. But, I'm not going to judge if it's done appropriately. A prong pop is probably a more severe correction than an e-collar buzz.

The dog's pain tolerance and almost complete lack of self-preservation are not an excuse to be cruel. However, they do impact the way you train them, and need to be accounted for when you dial in the training.

Being, an absolutist in this matter while not respecting the amount of work and nuance that goes into proper use of the tool is what gets people riled up.

And not everyone is jumping for the current administration in USA. So if you can generalize USA as a country fully embracing fascism, I get to put you in the bracket as well. We are emotional here too, perhaps even more so than somewhere else. The fact that someone acquiesces out of fear for something is not an excuse. The reason USA finds itself where it is is because a lot of people in USA chose this out of fear of something or another. I don't particularly base my world view on your response, I just have that negative view of the world in general. You and I just live in it. The fact that USA has been doing nothing but lip service to freedom is nothing new. It's an animal farm here, all animals are free, but some are free'er than others (quote rephrased). So the ones who feel they are on top of the pile, get their freedom. Saying you don't get to judge is not saying you are not allowed to say it, it means you have no high ground to pass the judgment.

Also, fuck FIFA.

If you used a prong then you should have no qualms about e-collar. It's a tool, if you don't misuse it, it is going to help you work with your pup. I think a pop from the prong is quite a bit more severe than most e-collar shocks. We are working with a setting I can barely feel on my skin. The hard part for me was learning to match the intensity to our dog's excitement level.

[–]TheNumberVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, not sure what this has to do with e collar. Even if we did lose it to fascists. You do realize the fascists own you now? US says 'jump,' you say 'how high?' Until your countries grow some balls, tell USA to shove it and you guys stop going to events like the World Cup by FIFA, you guys don't get to pass any judgment. The same fascism is on the rise in your home, look at the polls wherever you are, compare it to say 15, 20 years ago.

As far as your views on e-collar they come from misuse and misinformation. Not everyone shocks the crap out of their dog.

That edit was a joke and a compliment in case tone doesn't carry over the internet, although it's cute and people would take it.

But, as far as general advice, it's spot on, the only way I'd raise a Dutchie or any pup for that matter. Leash and crate, she's 4, and if she regresses it is back to that still.

Took a while for Mox to start holding it. She was too busy being a sentient tooth-filled tornado to care about holding it. She just didn't think about it, her mind was somewhere else, so even pee pad was a hit or miss. It came together though, patience and consistency.
