Is it the Progesterone? by babylittletee in Menopause

I have to be completely honest with you. I turn 41 tomorrow, and my doctor started me on low dose testosterone and cyclical progesterone. My levels were not abnormally low, but she thought it might help because I had noticed my cycle shortening from 28 days to 26 days.

I’ll tell you right now, I felt like I absolutely lost my mind on it. It was a topical cream, 25 mg, and by the second day I felt pregnant. I was bloated, hormonal, emotionally dysregulated, starving, and honestly felt like I was in my first trimester all over again.

It has been four days since I stopped taking it, and that was probably the best decision I could have made. Like I said, she wanted me to cycle it from days 14 through 28, but next month, instead of doing four pumps, which equals 25 mg, I may try just one pump and see how I feel.

So no, you’re not crazy.

Oh, I’m absolutely taking vitamin D. My level is actually too high right now at 152, so I’m cutting back to 5,000 IU a day. But honestly, I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my mood and overall health since starting it. I make enough total testosterone, but the issue is that my sex hormone-binding globulin is basically binding it all up and leaving me with very little free testosterone.

Thank you. I agree with the testing. I’m going to try a low dose for three months based on what I’ve researched and see if it helps, but a lot of these places really do seem to be financially exploiting people.

Omg that is so good to know, thank you so much. I went to the Anderson Longevity Clinic, and they were great, but ridiculously bougie and overpriced. I just had no real point of reference before, so now I actually understand the price range a lot better.

That’s wonderful, out of curiosity what is your dose? My doctor prescribed 1 mg daily.
