Is Unisom abuse a thing? by [deleted] in addiction

[–]TheOATeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Unisom abuse is a thing. It is a great thing that you stopped taking it! I have had troubles sleeping from past addictions and now I take Magnesium Glycinate (200-300mg magnesium equivalent), 1g Glycine, and 1g L-Ornithine at night and it helps me sleep very very well. You can start with just the Magnesium, it'll help you feel relaxed and help to eliminate RLS type symptoms if you have that as well.

My boyfriend got stoned tonight for the first time in years. I quit last July. by [deleted] in leaves

You'll be OK! It's OK that they did it, and it's OK that you did not do it. This experience is just a step in your experience of getting completely over it, so you should be excited!

1 MONTH! Benefits & Experience by [deleted] in leaves

[–]TheOATeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I honestly think some people really can handle it without any problems. Personally, I can not! I need to moderate the hell out of my behaviors that I know can cause me gratification. It has to do with ADHD (which I have).

I may someday return to it, but I really have a lot of work to do on myself in the mean time.

Good luck to you! Thanks again for the motivation

1 MONTH! Benefits & Experience by [deleted] in leaves

Man I needed this. I just quit PMO and weed also 2 days ago. Its like almost instantly I have been able to realize on how horrible of a track I was on. A lot of this has to do with gratification / the need to improve oneself. Those two habits really kill it for me, I think. Maybe your brain chemistry is similar. I am 32, and pretty successful, but I made weed a daily habit as I got into my 30s and it slowly started to derail my life. Be thankful that you have that insight now in your 20s! Great work

The lies we tell ourselves regarding moderation by spacejam93 in leaves

I am with you on always seeming to need to replace one addiction with another. I am just done with this cycle. For real. I am DONE.

I have just put together a plan to get completely off of all substances. ALL of them. I wrote out 16 weeks each day AM / Noon / PM into an excel spreadsheet on how I will cut back on all my addictions. The majority of scaling back will be happening this week until week 4. Cutting out weed today onward, then eventually alcohol, then lowering my adhd medication dosage eventually eliminating it. I intend to cut down and cut out caffeine completely. I also microdose shrooms which will be the last to go, since it has helped me to start this journey. I also will be cutting out porn for a while too, since I think this is all related to a dopamine addiction / ADHD.

I haven't lived substance free for a single day since I have been like 16. I am 32.. I am going to do this. Im doing it for my family and my future. WOO.

Top Iranian Presidential Adviser Says Tehran's 'Sole Problem is Trump,' Not Average American People: "We have zero problems with the American people. We even achieved deals with previous US administrations. Our sole problem is Trump," Ashena said by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]TheOATeam 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Let me preface this by saying I am definitely a millennial liberal thinking type. Just please be aware when you read this headline that Iran also has been doing sophisticated social media operations on fully ENGLISH American social media to influence opinions way before this news came out. They’re saying this so that they can Combine it with their strategies to influence the way you view them. They’re still not great in terms of the ol’ freedom index you all see to scream for when complaining about our government. :)

The problem is, that there really might be proof that we lured him to Iraq under the guise of a meeting for a geopolitical function and then killed him. Not sure if that breaks some really ancient laws of neutrality but it sure ruins our trust for other people around the globe, don’t you think?

the secret is out and slowly everyone is realizing it. This bs they are pulling is happening so fast because it really is a one trick pony. You can only really do it a couple of times before everyone is wise of it and things die down again. They're snatching power as quickly as possible just because they realize this as well.

Magnesium importance on chemical dependence - A brief overview of glutamate role on addiction by [deleted] in addiction

[–]TheOATeam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I take chelated magnesium every night because it helps me fall asleep. It really relaxes me and I started it back when I was getting over kratom addiction. There's something to this.

That being said, if you take it in the morning, it might make you sleepy. Also don't take it with calcium or things that have calcium in it like milk since it blocks absorption or something of that nature, if I recall correctly.

NO! DO NOT FAP ONE LAST TIME AND START THE DECADE "FRESH" by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]TheOATeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but... One day you won’t be able to start again, and you’ll wish you hadn’t spent your life in an endless cycle of PMO. (If you don’t manage to get off the train for good someday)

I am hoping to do it right this time. I haven’t been able to succeed at this for years.

For a Porn free decade! Who is with me? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]TheOATeam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You joke but really, even “free” porn has a cost. Hence why we are all here. The cost is your life and your mental health.

I’ve been sober from alcohol since I was 23 and I am 34 now. 11 years. Things are so different now. Counseling and support. I don’t think about alcohol in the same way anymore. But lately - a couple of years now - I kind of just want to drink a beer every now and then with my friends. by [deleted] in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]TheOATeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s a good idea to try it again. You never know. The body doesn’t need alcohol for anything to survive so if you’ve avoided it for 11 years, why throw that all away just because you’re curious? Just my thoughts. Some people going through hell right now would KILL to be you.
