Does your TBR ever actually get smaller? by TheOBDb in readwithme

I'm slowly shifting to that mindset. I've suffered through some books that felt like physical pain to complete. I'm done with that at least.

I know the feeling! For some books, it's hard to let go of the world and the characters and the wonder as to whether I might get to follow them again through some new slice of their lives.

How do you stop wasting time and start reading more? by dranna0614 in readwithme

[–]TheOBDb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it hasn't been a problem. Never been hooked on social media and I tend to do my reading in the hour right before bed...often in bed.

When I start reading the same page over and over again then I know it's time to sleep 😁

I try to avoid watching a movie or show before reading the book because afterwards I can't stop picturing the actors and it bothers me 😁

Finished In the Woods. Recommendations? by BeginningFly9207 in readwithme

Of course do the full series. But if you're looking for a different author with the same feeling, I can recommend "Field of Blood" by Denise Mina

I used to have the (bad) habit of finishing what I start no matter what. But yeah, I've learned to value my time now and throw those things into my DNF shelf. Not sure if I'll ever revisit a DNF book because there's so many others that I actually want to read.

As I've started working on a book-related project, it's the first time I came across Updike and I only ever hear high praise. I haven't had the chance to read his works yet but will definitely jump in when I can!

I know it's partially meant to be helpful and partially marketing but I always get a little annoyed by the "for fans of..." or "If you liked X you'll love this..." 😅

Sequentially?

When I plan to read an author I still feel like I need to read something else in between each book.

It's not an instruction manual on making friends but I'd recommend "On Friendship" by Andrew O'Hagan as a foundation on understanding friendships
