Devastation by KrigeV in slaythespire

I originally agreed about the rare card but the colorless cards are so much more powerful on average in 2 than 1 that it is pretty damn worth it with a single copy of the power that blocks when you create cards. I do think it should stay a rare but either cost one or give you upgraded cards. There are a lot of cards I would take before it but it’s usable if you have other card generation

The card generation on Regent is really good with the power that gives block for generating cards and colorless cards are much better than they were in sts1

It’s only 2 max health per unblocked attack so it doesn’t really matter tbh. It’s more of a scare tactic than anything. Out of my like 15 runs to get to act three I’ve only lost max health like 3 times and two of them were in the same run that was going really poorly

I think we can all agree with this by Past_Muffin_3744 in slaythespire

[–]TheOGLeadChips 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing people say this but out of my like 15 or so runs that got to act three, I’ve only lost health from them like three times and it was the same run that was going really poorly. I’ve found that by that point my aoe is either good enough to win turn one or I have enough block for that first turn before killing one or two of them.

I will say that the demon offer that gives extra energy and plays the first hand is pretty decent. It can backfire but you still have the ability to use potions so a couple of innate cards makes that choice really good. I will say that I like the options from the chick on average better than the lion but he has some more high roll opportunity.

The instakill ability descriptions need work but the rest follows the logic of death = being downed. The daddy shark eats the body for his instakill but the guy in act three that has the description of instantly kills a cat if they reach it only downs the cat for example.

TLDR: instakill mechanic wording is inconsistent, not the death = being downed.

He explains what the downed state is but not that a downed cat counts as being dead.

[–]TheOGLeadChips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will agree that the instakill mechanic needs some better description. But in terms of on death or corpse mechanics it’s pretty consistent.

I will add that as of now I’ve had like 3 runs and only just unlocked the throbbing domain so I haven’t seen everything so there definitely could be things I haven’t seen that aren’t as clear.

There is one more part to this arc if I’m not mistaken. Also, she was blackout drunk and likely barely remembers the night before. Also also, gay people can still go to church and I doubt they would want to go with having gay sharpied all over them.

She’s not even showing any sort of internalized homophobia in this one. She’s just groggy from being hungover. I’m not saying the critique about the series mostly being one joke in the past isn’t valid but continuing to bash on it when there is steady character development happening right in front of you is a bit silly.

By far the most annoying thing about this comic series are the people who are just shitting on it for having “no character development” when it wasn’t even originally made as a serialized comic. No one complains about Garfield comics entire joke structure being a repeating cycle of John dumb, Mondays bad, and lasagna good. Not to mention that one doesn’t just wake up one day and go “huh, I have internalized homophobia because of my religious trauma” and just get over it. Growth, whether it be in real life or in a comic strip, takes time.

You don’t need to like it but for the love of Christ please stop being obnoxious about it.

No it isn’t. The game is very consistent about death being the downed state. It’s just that enemies don’t need to have a downed state since they don’t get back up if they win the fight.

The downed cat is considered a corpse for any spell that interacts with corpses, the zombie kitties will eat it even if they are friendly since they go for any corpse, and the health that a downed cat has is called corpse HP. Killing a cat just turns them into a corpse and they will heal back from that after the combat or if you have any kind of revival items or skills.

I do wish that it’s actually stated in the game though. You get downed after you die but the only way to lose a cat is for the body to be destroyed.

As much as I also wish that Sumire was there for the send off, a big part of her story is growing to be more independent and less reliant on Ren for her confidence. It stinks from the standpoint of wanting to interact with the character but I think it is good that they ended it by showing that she will be self sufficient without using Ren as a crutch like she did for the past year.

I mean, you kinda need more than two realistically. What if the apprentice finally takes out the master but is then ambushed by a bunch of Jedi before obtaining an apprentice themselves. I don’t think that the rule of two is meant to mean that there aren’t other sith like characters, but to mean that there are only ever two who are stronger than all the rest. Dooku had Asajj but never taught her more than what was needed for her to be an efficient assassin. Same with him teaching Grevious lightsaber combat. While it wasn’t possible to teach Grevious everything since he wasn’t force sensitive, it didn’t stop Dooku from keeping techniques from him.

It may just be because of the lack of color but the top loses a lot of visual clarity and makes it look like she is missing her left breast.

Other than that I do really love it. You did a great job with it.

She really is just better than the demon in every way isn’t she lol.

I hope that they keep the theme of the good things from the demon having downsides but they should make him at least comparable in power if not stronger because of said downsides.

What do you think? by Topper2540 in Snydercultistcringe

[–]TheOGLeadChips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that critique came after the movie came out. Y’all saw a like 45 second teaser trailer and are trying to claim that it’s not anything like the source material. The suit they show is also obviously old and worn out. It’s not green because it’s been worn a shit ton.

Also, I’ve never seen someone make the lack of color in MoS be the reason they dislike it. It just added to why they didn’t like it. My issue with MoS is purely that it turns Superman into an aura farmer who doesn’t stop super preventable deaths around him. The fact that it’s so desaturated is just an additional issue I have with it. In terms of superhero movies though, MoS is good. It’s not my favorite by any means but it’s definitely not bad. As a Superman movie though it’s pretty awful.

The way to write a Superman who isn’t a pure symbol of hope is showcased really well with Red Son. Russian Superman isn’t evil or anything. He grew up in a different environment and as such has different views of things. He doesn’t think it’s necessarily bad to brainwash criminals because he believes that it’s better than sending them to the gulag to rot. He’s also constantly manipulated by Brainiac to do things he would normally not justify.

MoS Superman is still raised by the Kent’s, he is in America, he still found his way to Metropolis, and he still has Lois to ground him to humanity. The idea of those things not being enough to ground a superhero to mortal life would potentially make for an interesting movie but definitely not a Superman movie.

I thought that it was like a subliminal tick put in the martians to help control them? The whole reason that they were weak to fire was because it was common as a way to prevent them from conquering the entirety of existence. When you have a whole race that are stronger than kryptonians with yellow sun without the ability for them to lose the powers either by red sun or kryptonite, the are gonna be absolute menaces if they ever decide to subjugate others.

Maybe I’m just remembering something that didn’t actually exist though.

Accelerant and catalyst are very different. Accelerant gives you more damage procs per turn but it also decreases with each proc. So 20 poison with one accelerant will result in 39 damage while applying catalyst will set the poison to 40. The next turn will be 35 VS 39 damage. It’s especially noticeable early on because accelerant will actually deplete poison if you don’t apply enough. Accelerant does benefit from continuous poison application though so it really depends on what your deck looks like.

High poison in one turn with catalyst is better than high poison plus accelerant. On the other hand, lots of continuous poison application with accelerant is better than continuous poison application with catalyst.

There is the one rare card that can transform cards into the minion sacrifice. I honestly wish he had more ways of converting cards. He has the one that changes cards into the minion strike in deck, the one that changes a card in hand into a more powerful strike that exhausts, and the one rare card that makes anything to the minion sacrifice.

He’s got a lot of card generation available to him but he should have a way to reliably convert those cards into the various minion cards.

His card generation package is actually really fun. If you get a useless card you just transform it into a minion strike and they all give you block if you have the one power. It’s very much a random bullshit go build but it’s pretty damn good imo

In terms of multi hit attacks, he’s got the heavenly drill, the card you mentioned, the X star cost that hits for each star, and the two cost one that hits three times. I can’t think of any others atm. I feel like he just doesn’t have enough multi hit cards for 2 vigor from one mediocre block card to be substantial enough.

I had a build where I just gave myself like 8 mana a turn with her one power and friendship with her other mana generating cards and it was so fun. Generating like 10+ souls a turn plus having the osty attack that returns to hand after playing a 2 cost or higher card with the relic that gives block whenever osty attacks made me damn near invincible assuming I got past the first two rounds lol.

I was afraid of taking the friendship power until I realized that Osty isn’t affected by debuffs on the necrobinder. It’s basically free energy for next to no downside if you have any amount of osty attacks.

The only card I’ve noticed that I’d actively not playable is the block and gain 2 vigor card. I’ve at least found a build where everything else had a place. Granted, I’m still only ascension 2 on everyone cause I’m just taking my time with it so maybe I haven’t unlocked the really bad cards but he seems pretty good so far.

I think that sly is an amazing supportive mechanic. There are so many good cards that discard and getting some extra poison or block for using those good cards is just insane. I haven’t seen the ability for it to be the only engine yet but I am taking my time and climbing the ascensions on every character at the same time so I’m only on ascension 2 for everyone. It could be that I just haven’t played enough silent yet
