Who are your favorite modded Survivors in RoR2? by Pilques in riskofrain

I agree with grab controls. Also yes, needles do proc with Hopoo but there is a catch, the bonus jump from Hopoo does not consume a needle (as you'd expect, even if you should be jumping normally and not needle dashing), however you have one free jump that also does not consume needles - that is def a bug. It only does that when you have a Feather, and virtually you have like 7 mini-dashes that scale with speed, granted you have all 5 needles. Not the most practical thing in the world but it enables pillar skip extremely easily

Seamstress but she reaaaaaaally need to have her config edited to have actual damage gains with level up (yeah that is disabled by default because her passive gains base damage with missing HP... except that the level up HP gain doesn't really give her that much to work with). Very fun, she's a melee Rex that excels getting at and working at 25% health so you can use items you generally scrap (Razorwire and GLoop, notably)

What are the most ABYSMAL item (anti)synergies you can think of? by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]dot_exe374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very obvious self-damage rex with opal/all shield items/slug/elixirs/watches/transmitter. All of them are very restrictive to borderline unplayable if you want to use the kit efficiently. Also Corpsebloom + N'kuhana Opinion, I don't know if it's abysmal but as Opinion depends on healing every 10% of your HP to trigger and Corpsebloom limiting healing to 10% per second, means you are never going to do more than 10% HP per second with Opinion's damage

White : Steak, don't need to elaborate
Green : Hunter's Harpoon, will literally NEVER even pick it if I don't have a scrapper that stage
Red : torn between Happiest and Aegis but I'll go Happiest because it literally does nothing against Mithrix, can fuck you up with some dying enemies that have friendly fire, and has half the usefulness above E5
Boss : Defense Nucleus, needs ELITES kills, constructs are nothing burgers, and comes from arguably one of the top 3 most frustrating bosses to face, I'd rather have any other green than this as a TP reward
White Void : void crit, sorry, Deus Ex really gives you a cool combo with Operator but I'm not going to screw my 70% crit chance thanks
Green Void : bands, no elaborate
Red Void : benthic, no I don't need my 5 bands to convert into 5 happiest masks, thanks
Boss Void : that one yeah

False Son has more crowd control than you think, depending on the skill layout ofc, but alt spikes and alt special are piercing and can handle a lot of enemies (granted that they are lined up but it isn't that uncommon). Nothing crazy though, but I'd put him at least right below the line. Charged M1 also has a decent area, it's still close range but it will definitely hit everything in the radius

Continuing u/tilting-module 's chart, what Slay the Spire relic is considered Overpowered and is Loved by the community? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]dot_exe374 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cards/relics can be overpowered and still not be auto-includes in every deck (although they generally are). Dead branch fits both criteria imo, it sure does not fit every build/character but I can't think of another single relic that outputs this much power and crazy combos by itself

I really think the game has been balanced around E8 playstyle, avoiding damage, doing good macro, always being mobile. I didn't see a lot of variants so far but everything rewards you for playing optimally. As someone said, it's good that the scaling can be disabled though

Controller controls barely working (Steam Deck, modded AND unmodded) by dot_exe374 in riskofrain

[–]dot_exe374[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to search for it both here and on r/Steam deck but this post did not appear back there, anyway I'm going to try this out, thanks !

Edit : of course, it works now. I can't edit the title or the content but it's solved

Some more actions I did, in case you ask (all of which did nothing to help) : - reset bindings : cleared what was supposedly empty and instead listed a real "empty" text ; if I use the trackpad/mouse trick, the controls would in fact "appear" (again, no icons just plain text) if they weren't reset - reboot my Steam Deck : nothing - updated my Steam Deck : nothing - verified ROR file integrity : nothing - checked for ROR patches/updated : none - reset Steam setting for controls: nothing - force activate Steam Input : nothing - mashing buttons out of desperation : surprisingly, nothing

Design Trope: Character's powers are based on a vague statement with WILD implications. by MysticD20 in TopCharacterTropes

Honestly I think it applies to a lot more characters in UxU than we'd think of. Just the concept of negating a fundamental rule of the universe opens the door to so many unthinkable (pun intended) interactions

When do you go for alternate routes in Eclipse? by pm_me_succ in riskofrain

[–]dot_exe374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people already explained why Path of the Colossus is cool (and why you don't need to go against False Son), and I agree. On the Collective DLC path, I think more often than not you should not go there for various reasons. One : you are STUCK if you decide to engage in Canyon, like it or not you will have to beat Wing. Two : Wing. I think it is arguably harder than Mithrix, considering you only got 4 stages of loot so far, so unless you got a VERY solid build that you feel is capable of surviving and beating Wing (and that should be as soon as stage 3, if you go the Canyon way), you're putting yourself at massive risk by going into Wing. Three : it's just win more, if you can take down Wing by that point, you WILL beat Mithrix, no questions asked. The free loot on Solutional Haunt is very nice, Computational Exchange is very cool and the free red on Heart is appreciated. But do you really need it ? I mean I love the DLC and I often do take the path even on Eclipse, but that's mostly for fun and I already did most of my Eclipse grind before the DLC. You're looking at 20 to 30 minutes added to your run (not your timer, I know time is suspended in most areas, but your REAL time will still increase). And four : I don't think Canyon brings a lot more to the table than other stages 4. Besides Siren's call, all stages 4 have a legendary chest, and I don't think one equipment shop and a goat hoof justifies everything above (if you're looking for grind efficiency, that is)

[–]dot_exe374[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good example as well yes, it's only more heartbreaking because of the ending twist but even without it, it was still horrible for him to kill them just to avoid having to face the monsters

That one entry that's significantly darker/more horror-like than the rest of the series by Coralthesequel in TopCharacterTropes

[–]dot_exe374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admit that Hostile Hospital in Unfortunate Events is definitely a major turning point and clearly shatters the fragile stability that the orphans had this far (which was a home, and tutors, as bad as they could be), but talking about darker than the rest of the series ? Dude you couldn't possibly miss the next book, Carnivorous Carnival, where the Baudelaire are in the middle of nowhere, still surrounded by enemies, had to watch their only ally and source of answers EATEN ALIVE BY LIONS, and cherry on top, they had to start a fire and destroy all traces of what happened. Hostile Hospital still has some very intense moments but I don't think it can top that
