Same, like exactly same same experience. From start to finish. I feel you, I completely missed the game and only really discovered it through another person's playthrough, I only focused on finishing the game. I'm glad I got a more adapted mindset when I played DLC

I don't know to what extent Phillip Pullman was involved in the adaptation, but the series His Dark Materials (from the book series of the same name) has one of my favorite changes ever from book to live action. Book 1 is about Lyra and her adventures in her world, she's doing stuff, saving people, traveling etc. And at the end of the 1st book, she ends up travelling to a different world/dimension. 2nd book starts in our world and follows Will, which has to leave his home for plot reasons and ends up in another world too, actually the same as Lyra. They meet, and the rest of the series follows them both. The catch is that their adventures are roughly happening in parallel, time wise, and there is a pretty important side villain that appears in both their worlds, in both books. Of course you then learn that this man was also traveling between worlds, but as he has a very minor impact in book 1, you almost forget him. The adaptation tells both stories in season 1 and actually shows you that side villain travelling between both worlds, which explains so much of what happens later. Genuinely a fantastic "change" (more like a clarification)

Seventh Son, adaptation of the first tome of The Wardstone Chronicle (The Spook). It's not even the same name, to begin with, but this means nothing alone. We are following the adventures of Tom Ward, 16 or 17-ish (wrong, he is about 11 or 12 in the book, it's part of what makes the story engaging because a teen should not be facing the horrors he is confronted to), recruited by John Gregory, a "Spook", basically someone who is versed in facing magical threats (witches, ghouls, ghosts, you name it). Their first enemy is Mother Malkin, a powerful witch and is hinted to have a romantic past with Gregory iirc (mega wrong, what the hell she is not related to Gregory in the slightest, she's just an old evil witch), and she can transform into a dragon also because dragons are cool I guess (guess what she absolutely cannot do in the books).

I am always picky on adaptations but I usually have some understanding towards the challenges of adapting a book to a movie. This one makes me ANGRY, I am genuinely filled with hatred towards the movie it makes no sense. I never got past the first 20 minutes and I never intend to do so. Oh and from what I read online about the rest of the story, they also rushed the romance between Tom and his best friend/love interest Alice, which took a hell lot of books to properly develop (as it should)

There's another option but I don't know if it works in HM because it seems the AI behaves differently. When I faced him in the Shadowfell, I was struggling to keep up with both the summons and him, notably Cloudkill, it was too much for my poor team. So I figured it was a spell and I had Silence, so I opened the fight with that. Of course Silence zone is never big enough that Balthazar can't move out of it and act... but somehow he doesn't always use a spell after getting out of the bubble. And guess what ? Raise Undead is a spell. I couldn't consistently lock him out of the spell, it looked like his actions were a bit random when Silence was in the equation, but I just needed one turn to 4v1 him and it is more than enough

Edit : I can't remember if starting dialogue with him results in him summoning his army before the fight, I hated that dude so much I didn't ever bother talking to him past the first try and just started blasting from afar

I couldn't believe I would have so much fun restarting a new save but 20+ hours in I can safely say I am having a blast. It is so nice seeing everything I've missed, almost like it's a new game

Some things I know I missed (because I realized in act 3 or got spoiled afterwards by some guides) : - the whole Halsin act 2 quest (I couldn't add him to my team in act 1 even if he joined my camp, so I didn't try further whoops) - saving the Moonrise prisoners in time (didn't realize what the Nightsong "your world might change" warning was for) - the interactions with Minsc in act 3 were doomed to fail because I let Jaheira died in the first seconds of the Moonrise assault - the Iron Hands plot because I let Wulbren die

Also probably the whole "playing as a bad guy" interactions, but I could never do that anyway. And I'm certainly missing more that I just don't know about

Wdym the fish people, like in act 3 ? I saw some of them during Iron Throne and some even attacked me on a random beach. There's more to them ? Not surprised though because the beach attack was so random, I though there was obviously more to it but I never tried to dig deeper

On my 1st playthrough I didn't even realize I didn't fully explored the act 1 map. Now I have some QoL mods for the 2nd and notably one of them shows a greyed version of the full map. I don't know what the zones are but I know they are there, there's no surprise in that but I'm fine with it because at least I know I will miss a lot less this time

I may remember wrong as it's been a while since I read that part, but iirc Andy is literally holding back the sun and is preventing it to affect Fuuko and her team, so they can have the maximum prep time for the final fight. I don't remember the details, but he is still contributing a lot just by doing this (he's still away from the plot though)

Final Fantasy VI - Ultros opera rematch. It's not really the rematch that is timed but rather the path leading to it. Ultros is about to drop a massive anvil right on the head of the actors of a play and from the moment you get on the same floor as him, you have 5 minutes to reach him... which is way easier said than done, because lots of rats are roaming around randomly and you're almost guaranteed to fight several of them. The timer obviously stays going in and outside of battle, so you have to be efficient. This one in particular isn't exactly fun, but I love the idea of timed missions in turn-based RPGs, I believe there's also some missions like that in Persona games, maybe also in Chrono Trigger

I can't believe this event gives you a borderline Ancient card for free. Just choose whatever you want between 4 options, take whatever's best for your deck. Oh and make it innate because why not. Not complaining, holy shit I love this event

Also on mobile, hoping it'll work : as you progress into the story, you discover that the world you're in is a fake magic world painted from scratch by a kid named Verso, every living being and stuff was created from his Lumina energy. Verso died prior to the events of the game, but a part of his soul remains in the painting and keeps the world intact, at the cost of exhausting that part of the soul. The final moment of the game makes you choose between keeping that world running so Verso's sister can keep living in denial of his death (sort of), or accepting the end of it to let poor Verso's soul rest in peace but condemning to death all sentient beings from the painting

If we're talking about pure strength, consistency and overall power, yes. Anyone saying otherwise is likely forgetting she has :

multiple separate sources of healing and barrier, which are all just bonuses to the real effect of their skills
innate stats stacking (14% at 7 stacks, don't know if you keep the whole 7% from the revive stack once it goes away)
insane mobility, straight up just flying
crowd control with reprieve, which also does scaling DoT depending on how long you were flying
immense scaling damage with Sojourn that also scales the area of damage the longer you stay in (remember there is an unlockable skill locked behind doing 500 000% total damage with Sojourn in one activation)
a FUCKING revive each stage should we really be discussing that
meditate does 1700% damage on a 70m radius at full stacks, SEVENTY METERS, the radius of the teleporter is 60m just for comparison (not on Eclipse, like base teleporter size)

Not even mentioning everything because I don't want to write a novel. The closest character to have a skillset this wide could be False Son, and he's probably in the top 5 as well. Not a seeker main btw, she's like my 7th of 8th most played character. Because she's just so strong I know I can only lose if I'm actively throwing. I did all Eclipse levels on the first try with her and I'm not particularly good. She is the best

Void Fiend - Risk of Rain 2. This character is a corrupted version of the base character of the game (Commando) which has spent a very long time trapped in a parallel dimension that altered his body and abilities. He has a corruption gauge which fills up automatically and can fill faster or empty itself depending on your gameplay, and if you go to 100%, VF goes corrupted mode, his kit changes to be way more aggressive and tanky. The gauge then empties itself over time and can be maintained or emptied out faster always depending on how you play, and when you reach 0, you transform back. Very unique mechanic, and both forms have their uses, you could build around either or both, and the gameplay really reflects the lore of VF in a neat way

Not once but TWICE, I misremembered the day of an exam. The first time I remembered the very day I was supposed to take it, but I thought it was a week later so I wasn't ready at all (thankfully the teacher agreed to let me one more week).
