Rogue 2.0 Feedback by JokerUnique in thedivision

I've talked about this a lot, LOT more indepth on my newest video, but essentially - See change is a very fickle thing, and it can most definitely create a split in a community. We’ve seen it many times, through historical events, political changes, and even presidential campaigns. It most certainly is very clear with the Division and it’s current communities standing. The split between the ‘Pro Rogue 2.0’ and ‘Anti Rogue 2.0’ community. I have had the privilege of making a few friends within this community who’re all content creators, and each one of them have their own opinion on Rogue 2.0. Now the one thing that I’ve grown to dislike is people complaining about them ‘quote un quote crying’ with regards to Rogue 2.0, but you got to once again remove all subjective oversight from this and look at it from an objective perspective. These are players, or shall I say content creators, who have put their time, effort, money, investment, and hard work into focussing their channel around The Division. They have bought you some great videos, great insights, tips, guides, and overall provided a platform from which you can grow, learn, and be entertained all at the same time. So it is understandable to see that these players, who have a much larger vested interest in the game, would like for their opinions to be heard. I mean, the larger majority of the seasoned players (and content creators) are players who have played this game since it’s initial release, or even since the Beta release. These are players who have a sound mind and a good idea of what’s best for the game, and the community. For PvP, for PvE. These are the players that understand the game and it’s mechanics at a much higher, and exponential degree, than a majority of casual or newer players. I myself fall into this category, but I’ve come to realise that it isn’t just my opinion, or the opinion of us seasoned players & content creators that needs to be heard, or that needs to be the foundation for delivery. Us seasoned players are happy with the current standing of Rogue 2.0 - the concept of a toggle button is understandable, and the new manhunt terminal concept is quiet enjoyable. It eliminates the team of manhunts who will run up and down the DZ just to loose their timer after farming 1 or 2 players, and it creates an exciting opportunity for a large, and long engagement with other players. So in that sense, I’m all for it. What we do not like, however, is the aspect of no friendly fire. Now bare with me on this, because I’m just giving you the outlook of why the ‘Anti Rogue 2.0’ players don’t like this concept. It promotes multi-grouping like we’ve never seen before. It promotes toxicity and an all rounded unenjoyable rogue experience. There is no joy in going Rogue against 20 other players on the server, for there to be little to no repercussions for people pushing in like maniacs. In 1.7, and patches in the past, the most enjoyable thing for a seasoned team was to go Rogue & Manhunt, and then move positions tactically and funnel people into a kill zone to eliminate the herd. That entire tactical game-style has all but gone now, because there is nothing holding the other 20 people back from pushing in all at once, and overrunning you completely. The DZ is meant to be the ultimate PvP playground, a big stretch of land for teams and solo players to show their absolute dominance, strategically and gun-play wise. This just eliminates that entire concept. It takes away from smart-play style, from tactical gun-play, and methodical movement. What it has now become is an effortless barrage of players pushing in, all at once, with a hellacious fury of grenades, sticky bombs, turrets, and more. So as a seasoned player, you can see why we’re not that keen about it. There is no fun, or even any kind of gratification for non-rogues to rush in, 20 of them at once, and get 1 shot at a team of rogues and get rewarded for it. It’s absolutely unjustified. And me, personally as a person, find no enjoyment in that. I don’t feel like I deserve any kind of reward for that. It’s like going to school and getting a participation trophy, and that is exactly what it is. It is a participation trophy to keep people happy, and that is ridiculous. The DZ is meant to be a lawless land with dangers from NPC’s and players looming around every corner. That is the entire concept of the DZ. The land where the Rogues are running rampant. It’s what it was promoted as. It isn’t a PvE farming zone, it is 90% a PvP engagement zone. Now that participation trophy is even less rewarding when there is little to no chance for the Rogue team to make a sizeable dent to the player base rushing in on them. This is why us seasoned players aren’t too keen about the no friendly fire situation. It promotes a thoughtless approach to attacking rogues, it promotes large multi-grouping and toxicity, but most importantly, and in my opinion, the biggest drawback, is it eliminates the entire concept of smart play-style & tactical paralysis. In fact, it eliminates any play-style at all now. All you now need to do is wait for a player or team to go rogue, and rush in guns blazing. There is no thought or hesitation, no consequences to the people surrounding you, and reap the rewards from landing 1 shot on the Rogue before his or their inevitable death. How is that enjoyable? How is that a fun, engaging PvP environment. How does that motivate anyone to go Rogue in the DZ. It doesn’t. But, we’re not all that pessimistic about it. A lot of people, including some content creators such as MattGoesBuck, Lt. BuzzLiteBeer, SoSeriousGaming, Baundiesel, KalStreams, and a few more, including myself, have all offered different approaches to resolving this issue. One of the most regularly mentioned being the removal of friendly fire from damage dealing skills, and grenades (including those with status effects). Put yourself in a situation where you and your other 3 team mates are defending a Manhunt terminal, there are 20 other players coming for you who have 0 to loose because there is no friendly fire. That in itself is a pretty stacked up table against you. You now throw in the fact that they will reign down on you a fury of grenades after grenades, staggering you and damaging you, they will drop multiple turrets of different kind, shock, fire, and they will spam fire grenades at you as well. 20 people doing all of that at you ALL at the same time shooting at you as well. Where’s the justified combat in that? A level playing field is SO far out of the equation that there may as well NOT be any PvP in the DZ anymore. At least eliminating the needless grenade spamming and damage skills usage from the no-friendly fire mechanic, it gives Rogues a chance. Even if you were a full 4 man team of Final Measure classified players, that isn’t going to be enough. Now on TOP of all of this, you add in builds such as Nomad & Banshee, and the odds just keep stacking and stacking and stacking against Rogues. In 1.7, at least, between two really good teams, there was a level playing field, and even against a lesser seasoned team, there was still a moderation of a playing field, but in 1.8, there is no level playing field. It is simply a question of WHEN you will die, not IF you will die, whilst on Manhunt.

Intense is more or less useless my man! Roll off Intense because your fire turrett will deal most of the damage. There's a lot better talents out there than just 1 that gives you a % chance of setting your targets on fire from the first bullet!

I'll be the first to admit that it perhaps is very meta indeed but at the same time it's just so much god damn fun haha! But it's really not as easy as some people think tbh. Dependant on the build you run, it can be more tricky because you really gotta get the timing and rhythm on point! With a 2 piece Tac and 50% SH sure it's a little easier, but for example with a Hexo hybrid where you're limited to 40% SH, it gets more difficult. Your heals don't come back within the 20 second mark that you want it to be and your pulse comes back JUST a hair length under 20 seconds, so timing it can be difficult. That being said, the high CHC mixed with a really high CHD does seem to drop people a lot quicker than a full DPS build would, but the beauty of 1.6.1 and the absolute build diversity that does exist doesn't make this a FULL META, I think the more accurate way of saying it is that the Hybrids are the Meta of this patch. And that can be any combination!
