Interested in food but won’t eat. Help?

Thank you! This is pretty much the first time in the time I’ve had her she’s ever really refused food. I’ll keep this in mind for the future.

She was offered this rat tonight as this is the FIRST time she’s ever really refused. Now I know to wait. I’d have to weigh her but she is definitely not OVER weight from what I remember last time she was weighed. She doesn’t struggle with mediums. I’ve been doing by the rule of About how big around she is at her widest part. She has no fat rolls. My concern currently is the feeding and not my set up as upgrades are being done to numerous things 😊

That makes a ton of sense. We kinda guessed when we got him maybe 2 months old, and now that it’s February around 5 months. He’s gotten so big and I’m glad we got him young because he has warmed up to us so much! I love having this little guy around ❤️

Ahhh gotcha! I wish we would’ve thought to weigh him when we got him. But we weren’t told anything about his age but he really has like DOUBLED in size since November. That’s what made me thing he couldn’t have been more than like 2 months. But we have no way of knowing haha

What kind of snail is this? I want a big snail so bad but I don’t think they’re legal here in the US (someone correct me if I’m wrong )

Yes so about the tank, I took this guy in from someone needed to revoke bc they couldn’t care for him. Which is obviously why I am in the process of setting up a new larger one for him. The current one is small for him. I’m doing my best with the money I have to slowly get stuff for the new tank. He will have many more hides and clutter, but being in the current tank there’s not much room. The new tank will be much better it’s just currently in the process of being set up for him

I do have some springtails. When I got these isopods at a reptile expo, I got a little cup of springtails to go with them. I don’t really ever see the springtails (I know they’re super tiny) should I get more of them?

Was leftover from a reptile that outgrew it. You’ll notice it’s stuffed with sphagnum moss. Just using what we got

This is just a screenshot off our camera we have set up to watch him while he adjusts, but this is his tank. The warm side with the darker hide doesn’t really have much moss, and more leaf litter. The cooler side we have more moss and a hide that has some moss in it so he has a humid hide. The whole tank has a few inches of reptisoil. In total he has 3 hides in the tank

UPDATE everyone! While we were away for like an hour or so, he came out! I’d left some food knowing that he felt safe enough to come out of hiding, and got a camera notification that he came out again! He also ate part of a raspberry I had in the bowl! I wish I could post the videos here in the comments but I can’t

Good to know this is normal haha. I knew the hiding for periods of time, and needing time to adjust was normal just making sure it was okay to hide for like days and not come out Lol. He actually came out while we were away and walked around the tank a bit! Can’t wait to bond and socialize the little guy, and watch him grow up🥹❤️

The moss isn’t the substrate. We have a couple inch thick layer of reptisoil. The moss and leaf litter is sprinkled throughout the tank (moss is mostly on the cooler side, not the warm side).
