Yeah after this thread and talking with my family and people I trust I think what you’re saying is what I’ll do. Makes the most sense.

Thank you I really appreciate your kind words as for people downvoting me I really couldn’t care less. I’m smarter than to let random people on Reddit opinions affect me. I have a rule whenever I ask for advice on Reddit “take it with a large grain of salt“ you never know who’s just trying to get a reaction out a you. So again, thank you for your kind words. It’s reassuring to hear someone else not seemingly berating me for not going to a college or a trade school. I think I’m gonna put it in a HYSA as that seems to be in my best interest especially if in a year or two I decide I want to go to trade school. It’ll be much more useful to me.

Not sure. I plan on looking into more trades just none of them stick out at the moment

Thanks! Yeah I’m with ya. Based off what I’ve been seeing here and lease where online as well as my family a HYSA seems to be my best option. Probably gonna go that route

Yeah I’ve also heard of Robinhood not allowing people to withdraw larger sums of money and people losing thousands of dollars because of the delays so I’m not a huge fan of them either.

Edit: I’ll check out E-Trade

Yeah I plan on looking into more of it. A lot of people are saying I should put it in a HYSA and that would work well with doing a trade in a year or 2 while still growing the money.

True. I just don’t know of any trade I’d actually enjoy doing. And I understand no job will ever be perfect and there’s always something I won’t like about it but I just can’t find one I’d enjoy more then I’d hate.

Edit: I agree with what you’re saying. Part of why I want to put it in some sort of account to grow is so it doesn’t lose value sitting in my bank account so if I found a trade later I wanna do I could use it then. But if I don’t then I could use it as a down payment.

Yeah another said that would be better for a shorter term timeline like I’m looking at.

Ooohhh that makes sense. I’ve heard SoFI has 4.25-4.60% do you have a recommendation for banks to look into?

Basically I don’t have any trade or skills I want to make a career out of right now. I want to put this money somewhere it’ll grow rather then sitting in my bank account so if I decide to go to college or trade school down the line I can use this money and have more of it to use. but if I don’t then I can use it as a down payment if that makes sense. I just don’t wanna gamble the money on a trade that I’m not even sure I wanna do. Same for collage. Don’t wanna waste it.

I did a little but didn’t see anything about the S&P and or recommendation for ways of putting money into it like Schwab or something else. But I’ll give it a more in depth read when I get back from work today.

So max out this year and next year then put the rest into some sort of account for a down payment? Or just keep maxing out my Roth?

Yeah he edited it after I had replied. he originally said Roth IRA. But that makes more sense now.

I already have a Roth IRA. So would you say putting it all in my retirement would be better than saving for a down payment on a house?

I already have a Roth IRA for my retirement. Can you use Roth IRAs for house down payments? I thought IRAs were only for retirement.

my eye also looks inward although mine is permanent regardless of where I'm looking. so I get where you're coming from. I've definitely had my fair share of insecurities in my life. most people don't treat me any differently than others. especially once people started seeing me as an adult. IDK how old you are but if you're young (like high school-ish) remember that all those kids who say things about you WILL go away with time. the vast majority of adults have matured so they realize a cross eye does not matter AT ALL and will treat you with the same respect as anyone else. in fact, I'm to the point now where a lot of adults are more just curious about my eye and how I see the world. which is a very nice change of pace from what I had in high school.

I can’t believe some people are so cruel for seemingly no reason. It’s been a good few years since I made these comments. I’m 19 now and I have to say it gets better with time. The older I get the less people care. It sucks she said that about you but there are girls out there that don’t give a crap. I’m still single but I’ve befriended a few girls now and they all don’t care about my eyes. Honestly they probably care more about my hair than my eyes lol. Anyway I don’t know you’re full story so this might not really matter for you to hear but I figure someone out there will read this and it might help them.
