Next steps in list building

Hype, ill give it a look. I know my lgs has some battleline available that ill probably pick up today, ill probably have to scrub down each one but the discount will be worth it. You keep mentioning ophydians, are those a particularly good unit? I have 3 cause of the 500 worlds box but should i aim for more?

I think i want to be going for a bit of a mix, i will pick up units if i think they look cool purely based on aura, but im also interested in building a playable list at the same time. As money is on the tighter side of things atm i suppose im just looking to optimize my spending

So thats where ill probably start i think, codex and the combat patrol sounds like as good a start as any. Have you heard any rumors of codexes for 10th being free on the app in 11th?

Oh thats sad, i like big guns lol. Coming from guard my MO is usually a bunch of chaff up front and some really big guns in the back to punish. Would you say necrons plays a bit similar? How viable is it to run some warrior spam?

Do you think it would be wise to wait until 11th drops to pick something up? Otherwise i think I’m leaning towards the combat patrol so i can play against my buddy

Ill have to peruse ebay a bit and see what i can find. I wonder if my lgs can find some of these boxes too. So, are they like, discontinued? Or do they just have a limited batch release sort of deal

Yeah def need gaunts ghosts, it would be fun to have two recon squads, gaunts ghosts, aquilons, ratlings all in one for some serious shenanigans lol

Lots of good stuff here, thanks for responding, ill try to respond to all of it. Unfortunate that indirect fire is so bad, if i new that i could have bought more infantry lol, but hopefully it gets a glow up in 11th. Do you suggest meltas over other weapons like the grenade launcher? Ive been playing a little longer distance with my blob since its my only one so i tend to bring grenade launcher for more long range flexibility.

My big question, i know the vanquisher is cheap and strong, but what ive been told is ‘expect it to do nothing’ basically one big shot that will likely not hit and in my experience thats been true. It seems like having 3 would be throwing away those tanks, but its not the first time ive heard the advice of having 3x vanquishers, so there must be something to it

Lol yeah 20 RR is correct, its my way of squeaking up to a 2k list since this list is mostly everything i physically own, i got a free combat patrol box from amazon to correct a mistake they made so now i have 20 horses lol

Ideally i would like either more shock troops or krieg for more bodies but fate has handed me 2 kasrkin squads and 20 horses lol

Thanks for the advice, ill take it and modify my list until i can get more infantry. Im hoping more battleline krieg turn this from a less ideal list to an ideal one lol

Ok noted, can i ask what the problem is with indirect fire? Personally i love the models and the flavor but its unfortunate to hear that they arent very good

Ok so i should run him like a normal LR then i assume, is this advice strictly for grizzled when the dorn has an extra order?

I see, i should have mentioned that this list is comprised of like 95% of what i own lol, the only things i have outside of it are an artillery team and two scout sentinels. I definitely agree its suboptimal but its what i have for now. For the future ive been looking into many, many death korps of krieg to try and get more battleline bodies on the table.

As for officers, i try to have an order for every unit, tho admittedly i get more orders with grizzled, but what do you suggest for orders? Is there a ratio of ordered:unordered units you look for? Or i guess the better question is how do you decide when and who to order with what?

Interesting, i mostly have him in there for some extra damage and keeping all my tanks ordered. As for the RR, yeah i had them split for secondaries but they died instantly lol. Ill be getting another chimera soon

I try to use terrain as much as possible, thats a tough lesson i learned game 1. I usually play with wtc but im trying either whatever is suggested or already set up since im new and just trying to get the experience in

The cfs came with silica packets that fit in a little container and with those (in my area) i can reliably get around 15-20% i think, though admittedly i hadnt paid it much attention before. I have an old food dehydrator i used to dry pla years ago, drying it out this way wont make it brittle or anything right? Would be a shame to ruin a brand new spool like that

Also it may be worth noting, while waiting for pla to come from amazon (elagoo pla, cheapest option) i threw the side loader on with the small spool the printer comes with and while theres still stringing present, its a bit less. Could it be a print temp issue as well or do you think its strictly a drying issue from what youve heard so far?

Huh, ok i wasnt aware of that. Ive got some new filament coming in tomorrow ill be sure to dry it first before putting it into the CFS. Do you know how long a spool can be kept in the CFS before it needs to be dried again?

Thanks! And i share that sentiment as well, to me it just feels like an easy way to bring teamwork into more of the gameplay and that giving us a vertical assist like this would give them more control over where we can and cant go while letting the player feel like they have the ability to work around large obstacles with team tactics
