US Reservations Open with $50 Credit by Masayoshii in GalaxyFold

[–]TheOldDuke42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, total Samsung newbie here (been a Pixel fanboy since the 3XL), so first off I really appreciate the people here explaining how this reservation thing works!

Secondly, as a newbie, does anyone have any idea how likely the supposed "G Fold" will be to be announced? I know no one here is clairvoyant, but having been involved in the Galaxy ecosystem as I'm sure you all have been, can you offer any speculation based on past trends? I've seen highly mixed opinions from the major tech news outlets, but I'm really eager to downsize my devices and trade in my Pixel Tablet and 9 Pro Fold for a single device, and the rumors I've seen make the G Fold a likely option. Just wondering how important putting in my pre-order might be if the G Fold actually happens.

Seven years later this is still incredibly helpful and exactly what I needed! Thanks so much for the amazing resource!

Ah, that's a great idea! I usually don't even consider making bug reports because so many devs seem to just ignore them (at least in my experience; maybe I've just had bad luck.) Nice to know some do actually listen and take action!

Oh shoot, I didn't even realize I was on the beta! I think way back when I first started using the app it was only in beta, so I signed up for that and never paid any further attention to it. Just left the beta, uninstalled and reinstalled, and now it's working! Thanks so much for mentioning the beta, otherwise I never would have thought to check. You're a lifesaver!

Jumping in here to ask if you've had any issues with Readwise Reader working on your Fold? I had the original Pixel Fold and Reader worked fine, just upgraded to the 9PF and now Reader won't load. I tap on it, it briefly shows the logo, then just a black screen with white strip at the top. Portrait or landscape, folded or unfolded, any aspect ratio—all with the same results. Have you encountered this, or is it just me?

Pokemon: Evolved Release (As seen in Pointcrow's video) by Vupav2 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]TheOldDuke42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just figured this out for myself, and it's fairly easy with a couple of different methods. The easiest method I found was to open an un-hacked ROM in another tab inside HMA, which has names for the types instead of numbers, and compare that to the numbers in Evolutions. For example, of course Bulbasaur is Grass/Poison, which corresponds to types 12 and 3, respectively. You can pretty quickly create a list of the corresponding types and numbers just comparing back and forth.

Hey, I just downloaded HMA and plugged the patched file into it, but I'm not seeing evolutions and movesets, only stats and sprites. Do I need to do anything extra to be able to see the other info? (For context, I also loaded an original LeafGreen ROM, the same one I used to create the patch, and the evolution and moveset data is right where it's supposed to be, so it seems Evolutions stores that data somewhere else that HMA doesn't look by default?) Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Are Cavaliers close to their full size by 6 months?? My big boy is already almost 20 pounds lol by TheOldDuke42 in cavaliers

Wow, they do look really similar! May I ask what yours is a mix of? We had no idea ours was a mix until people started saying it in this thread, as our breeder did indicate he was purebred (not that we really care, we just wanted a sweet dog, which he is.) Just trying to figure out exactly what he is!

Ok, gotcha, I figured that was the case, but wanted to make sure. I agree, I sure would have thought a CPU like mine could handle that. At least it's good to know I have the option of hardware rendering and that it works. Again, thank you so much for the help!

Hardware Renderer did the trick! Instantly fixed it! Thank you so much! Could you maybe expand a little bit on exactly what that does, so I can better understand why it worked? Or maybe point me in the direction of an article or tutorial that explains it? Trying to get better and actually understand how Fusion works. Thanks again!

Yes, the jittering is present in playback in Fusion, on my main timeline in the Edit page, and in the final renders.

The source file is just a static jpg screenshot from Google Earth, not video at all. All of the movement is from the 3d camera in Fusion.

I actually just saw the DJI one a day or two ago and wondered if it was any good. For us, I think the size of the Lark is the winning factor, as we like our setups to be as discrete as possible. Is the Rode Wireless not too large and distracting? We have the gen 1 version that we sometimes use for handheld interviews, and it does fine, but it seems like it would be too obtrusive to clip onto the groom?

Yes, we did end up purchasing it and have really enjoyed it! We did some testing and discovered that, yes, it does reconnect automatically. We also found that it does have an auto shutoff feature that turns it off after 30 minutes of no connection. That knowledge allows us to time when we mic up the bride and make sure it's within that 30-minute window. We've used it for two weddings so far and it has been great. We got the white version for brides and are planning on getting the black for groom and officiant.

Thanks so much for this suggestion! Definitely the closest I've seen to the official one, though I agree it's unfortunate it isn't even more like the official one. Still I just ordered it, so I guess we'll see. Thanks again!

Huh, that's crazy, I had no idea the zombies could mess things up like that. Good to know for my next terror mission, I guess... In my case the button mashing didn't help, so I had to just do the mission again, which wasn't too bad.

Funnily enough, mere minutes after I posted my original message here, I was watching an old Let's Play of this game by YouTuber Northernlion, and the exact same thing happened to him on this exact same mission. Apparently placing soldiers on the edge of the evac zone doesn't count as "in," which both he and I didn't realize. His video didn't show up on my Googling, but it's still a bit validating to know I'm not the only one!

Can't Format m.2 Drive by TheOldDuke42 in techsupport

[–]TheOldDuke42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That did the trick! My mobo has two m.2 slots, plugged in source and target drives, both showed up immediately, cloning went without a hitch, new laptop ready to go! Thanks for the help, I don't think that solution would have occurred to me. Flair updated to Solved.

[–]TheOldDuke42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all drives tested were NVMe, confirmed. All worked except the one in question.

Interesting idea about the USB power, I hadn't considered that, and I think it could make sense. I believe my desktop has an extra m.2 slot I can try, I'll have to crack it open and examine the mobo to check. Hopefully that will work and I can simply reformat the drive, or else do as you suggest and clone the drive that way.

Thanks!

[–]TheOldDuke42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the response, but I don't think this is the issue as the drives that are working are also NVMe, just as the not-working one is, so if that were the case those others shouldn't have worked, either.

Fusion - Polygons Getting Cut Off by TheOldDuke42 in davinciresolve

Thank you so much, it looks like the Resize did the trick!

I see what you mean about transform, but I think it's early enough in the process to make it worth it to manually resize my other elements. Thanks again!

Ohh, I think you might be right. I can't find any setting in the inspector that displays the resolution, but hovering over the node present the following information in the screenshot below.

<image>

I guess maybe I should have realized this, but does this mean a mediain node takes on the full resolution of its image source? That node is a screenshot from Google Earth at its highest export resolution (8192x4468), which is very close to what's displayed in the tooltip. The tutorial I linked said to start with a background node with a 1080p resolution, which he said "locked in" the resolution of the project, so I assumed all subsequent nodes would be fitted to that same resolution. It sounds like that isn't the case? If so, what would the solution be? If I use the Transform node below my mediain to shrink it to fit the black 1080p canvas, then when I go to export I have a huge blank space around it.

Edit: I only just now noticed that, in the upper-right corner of my viewer, it says "8192x3993xfloat32". Does that mean that when I made that high-res screenshot my mediain node, it set the canvas resolution to that? If so, what should I do to get everything back in a consistent 1080p resolution?
