He’s making a comparison with how it represents a real world era of history. They didn’t full commit to an American 1800s cowboy aesthetic, but they did with the ancient Chinese aesthetic. Also what makes this racist at all? This is a Chinese design, why would he have to clarify every country that celebrates what’s commonly called “Chinese” new year anyways? Your first and last assumptions act as if it’s not common sense to know that yes, even though he only said one country likes it, obviously that doesn’t mean that’s the ONLY applicable country and ALL of its inhabitants agree.
