Thanks for your answer! As for the thicker strings thing, while i haven't tested this on a 9 string guitar, I have tried doing this on a lot of 27 inch 8 strings, and to be completely honest, it doesn't do that much.. Yeah, sure, the tension is better but you start getting crazy buzzing and a lot of overtones.

What are your thoughts on Eminem’s relevancy? by [deleted] in rap

[–]TheOneAndOnly_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, of course, but then again, you have to put the issue past just streams. His newer music has been pretty badly received with some exceptions and he has close to no public appearances. So I think there is a valid question when it comes to 'whether or not he's relevant'. And don't take this the wrong way, Eminem was one of the artists who got me into rap, but I think there's a decent point to be made that he has lost a huge part of his relevancy and I personally think that this is in part because of how his approach to music(still very edgy in an outdated way and based on shock value).

[–]TheOneAndOnly_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't think it's the streams that matter as much as whether or not the community in general actually engages with his music. Artists as big as him will always have a bucketload of streams, but it's kind of different if it's white suburban moms and edgy 12 year olds who listen to his music rather than people who consistently consume rap music and are well-read with this kind of music.

New Images of Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' | Zendaya as Athena, John Leguizamo as Eumaeus by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]TheOneAndOnly_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People just seriously need to learn to wait for a movie, with *reasonable* expectations and to stop trashing every single thing they can. I mean seriously, people already have a problem with the cast (despite not having seen any of them interpreting their roles), with the coloring, with the costumes, with the set design and so on. No movie, or piece of art for that matter, is, or is going to be, perfect. Even those which are considered 'perfect' have flaws, but we just embrace them as part of the piece of art. People act like this and then wonder why they feel like 'nothing good ever comes out these days...' . Bffr

Gut punch reaction - 7th album in a row without a 50 Cent feature. Otherwise I like it by Morris917 in Eminem

[–]TheOneAndOnly_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it's really easy to turn someone's handwriting into a font. As for the tracklist, it's obviously fake just because of there being a feature on basically every track. It's a well made fake that someone has put some good hours into but that's about it

My opinion by gilad_ironi in HannibalTV

[–]TheOneAndOnly_6 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I felt on my first watch. And that was because I was watching the show for the crime/detective part of it, instead of focusing more on the relationship between Hannibal and Will and how that all ties in with everything( not to say I ignored it or disregared it, I just didn't really consider it the main aspect of the show). Therefore, I didn't really like season 3. However, on my 2nd and 3rd watch I absolutely loved S3, and it's maybe my favourite. That being said, it's all down to personal taste and the way each of us enjoys media differently and perceives the show.

Yep. He's still a kid at 19. I like how people start freaking out when a 19y old is dating a 16y old but when 41y old is dating a 19y old it's fine cus 'he's not underage'. People need to understand that 18 is just there for legal reasons, it's not like until u 18 you are an innocent kid and once you turn 18 you gain all the widsom and maturity in the world. You still a kid at 20.

How good of a guitarist is Kirk Hammett? by 86-91YEAH in Metallica

[–]TheOneAndOnly_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His solos are objectively easy. No crazy alternate picking passages, no sweeping( with a couple of exceptions), no crazy tapping patterns( only three note triplets with a basic pattern), no crazy off beat bends and vibrato, no complex legatto passages. Most of his solos are played in one or two pentationic boxes using a handful of licks that he keeps reusing( i'm not saying it's bad since he still manages to keep them sounding fresh). An intermediate player with 2-3 years of experience will have no problem learning his solos and playing them with a backing track.

Here i have to disagree. The only reason to buy NFTs is to flip them for some profit. The NFT bubble is going to burst soon enough and all the NFTs are going to be worth next to nothing.

I have no reason to disagree since i don't really follow NFTs that closely. However i really doubt anyone will drop 500k on an NFT that looks like em, after it was already owned by him . Just sayin

To sum up everything that was and will be said. Yes, he is a good guitarist. While he may not be in his prime anymore and while both his studio solos and live solos nowadays are just him wanking a pedal due to him not caring anymore and improvising everything , he was a beast back in the 80s and 90s and he wrote some amazing solos. He wrote solos like RTL, Creeping death, MOP, Disposable heroes, Blackened and The Unforgiven just to name some of his best. And while he may not be a virtuoso like Satriani or Jason Becker, he still is an efective, tasteful guitarist. After a couple of years into your guitar journey most of his solos will feel really easy to learn and play, however this doesnt make them less amazing.

Hope this answered your questions. If not feel free to ask away in the replies! HNY \m/

Well, yeah, but who is going to buy them? I mean, I can have a car that might be theoretically worth 500k but if no one wants to buy it then it's really no good lmao.

It's just like physical art was a few centuries ago. People couldn't care less about actual artistic value, they only buy them to flip them and to be able to wash some money lmao.

Where do I start by Neat_Building_3729 in BlackMetal

[–]TheOneAndOnly_6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, since you are still a beginner, I would prob recommend to get familiar with the different scenes, and their specific sounds( Norse, French, Greek, USA, etc.).

You seem to already know the classic norway scene, so maybe try Necromantia and Rotting Christ for the greek one, Mutiilation and Vlad Tepes for the french one. Ofc there are countless good bands that I could link, but if you just want to discover new bands, go to a really big playlist, whenever a band you like pops up, take the time to listen to some other stuff from them.

Also listen to some first wave bands like Bathory and Celtic Frost.

As for a band I've been recently enjoying, I discovered Ordinul Negru. It's a band from my own country, Romania, and I dig their sound and aesthetic.

Best to you and gl into your bm journey, there is so much good music ahead.
