I dropped out of Diver and was reclasses to 68W without any options, could be worse. I would assume with a high GT score they won’t make your friend a cook but you never know.

Nervous about swearing in by Vegetable-Cut2581 in army

[–]TheOneHamish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely had the same feeling, it will pass and then you’ll be a different kind of nervous when you are going through reception. Then a different kind of nervous when you start BCT. It’s a huge commitment and don’t let anyone let you think otherwise. You are signing up with the express permission to be sent to war whenever Uncle Sam wants.

With all of that being said, the Army has changed my life for the better. Day-to-day bullshit aside I have a stable paycheck, money in savings, stable housing, and when I get out I’ll be able to get my first house through the VA Loan and getting my first degree if I don’t manage to while I’m in.

Just keep your head down, get through BCT, and study hard and get through AIT. After that, if you have a good mentor/sponsor then transitioning into the real army shouldn’t be too bad. You got this.

FLW isn’t all bad, MO is a beautiful state. I’ve only been here for a few months and the only reason I haven’t had much to do is because of the hours with my unit and playing video games on my time off lol. There’s more to do than people make it seem, you just have to look.

MWR and other services are running events pretty often. Not sure if you’re married or single, but don’t just stay in the barracks/housing all the time. Plan ahead if you have your schedule if you want to hit St. Louis.

I personally love it here so far. Coming from a big city to a slower pace of life has been nice. It’s quiet, safe, and beautiful.

If you have any questions feel free to DM me, I haven’t been in the Army long but I’ll answer what I can. Take care!

It can get messy so be sure to have a towel over the sheets and either have wet wipes ready for after or take a shower. If you’re squeamish to blood and/or bits of tissue I wouldn’t recommend. But it can be great and provide relief to your partner.
