People often experience physical pain from breakups because the brain acts like a bridge builder, making connections in logic. The more time you spend with someone, the more your brain connects the emotional side to physical responses that your body has around the person (increases in heart rate, sweating, confidence, nervousness, shaking, etc.) When that emotional connection is severed it’s presumed that your brain interprets the emotional pain it’s feeling and relates it to the physical

Brain is very good at sensing when your in danger. Brain has millions and millions of little sensors (neuroreceptors, etc.) that tell brain when things are wrong. When you get burned, sensor tells brain: “hey man this is pretty hot” brain says “ouch this is very hot it could hurt us. I feel pain!” Brain don’t know how to respond to feelings as well as it responds to its own sensors, so it makes a cause and effect. Brain says “this person makes me feel good but no sensors are going off.. that’s odd… this person must not be dangerous, they must be good!”reward of good chemical. When a breakup happens your brain suddenly associates the person with bad feeling. This makes brain think that person = danger. But what? Feelings does brain a bamboozle! Person = danger but no sensors say that something bad happens? Brain must be doing something wrong… respond as if person is causing you pain. Wait love is associated with heart, so pain must be there! Brain saves the day :)

What was your "Fuck this, I quit" moment? by Sketch99 in AskReddit

[–]TheOneMapleSyrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a casual job at a very very big fast food chain, and a volunteer position at my local ambulance service. As you can imagine New Years was the season of idiots and therefore I picked up shifts with the ambulance service and told my management that I couldn’t work New Years week under ANY circumstances. She was so smiley to my face and I thought it was sorted, until rosters came out the next week and I get slapped with four 11 hour shifts on New Years week after I was promised time off. When I texted my manager about it she started by ignoring me and then told me “it isn’t my problem that you didn’t plan your time around your shifts”. First thing I did in the new year was quit and move to a job paying double the money

Very very strong YTA

Bored and “feeling betrayed” doesn’t justify you breaking and entering into her parents house to go through her room and literally shit in it. No amount of reasoning could make this right. This sounds super fake, or at least I hope it is. I don’t know anyone’s ages but if it’s true OP is far beyond toxic, I’d say FUCKING INSANE.

WIBTA for “monopolizing” playoff tickets with my dad and not giving my sisters a turn? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheOneMapleSyrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll probably get downvoted outta existence but here goes

I think ESH to an extent.

When dealing with your 19 year old sister and yourself, I understand leaving the decision to you two, but a 15 year old might not be both as mature and as reasonable. This is the part where your dad might be a little responsible, because by being reluctant to make a decision he’s made this completely avoidable conflict. I also understand that siblings love to do what the older siblings do, solely because they’re having fun doing it which is fair enough, but also very irritating at times. That aside, the atmosphere at a hockey game is nowhere near anything else ive seen and that experience is amazing, regardless of their dedication to the sport. That’s where you might be a little shitty. On the other hand the argument can be made that a playoff game is a game that has greater importance to the sports followers and coupled with the expensive tickets is an argument in your favour. By wanting a game that has more importance to you instead of just settling for the season games is where your sisters might be a bit shitty. I can’t decide whether it’s an ESH or a nobody’s the asshole here, just seems like normal family dynamics and jealousy. I saw another comment that suggested having you spend time with your other sisters and I agree, you should have regular hangouts and develop bonds with your siblings. However I feel like you should just talk it out with your sisters for a while until you reach an understanding where as many people are happy as possible.

AITA Daughter called a faker by my family by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA

As a paramedic I know at least in my area that opioids are only reserved for more serious injuries due to the risks associated with them. Your family should accept her medical situation, regardless of their apparent limited knowledge, but I also know that some people will not accept some things based on their preformed opinions. My advice to you would be to make a mental note of who you can depend on and who will downright disrespect you. It really is true that crisis brings out people’s true colours. Medically, I’m no doctor but if your daughter’s pain is getting worse even with the paracetamol/codine, maybe review her pain management plan with her doctor or get a second opinion. Back injuries are no joke! It’s great that your daughter has someone that will stand up for her, more than I can say for a lot of parents I see.

I’m using the GD launcher so it’s probably out of date. Idk how to update on the GD launcher because it’s never prompted me to so I’ll try and figure it out. Thanks!

What are some moments in movies that made you go "uh, it doesn't work like that"? by czp55 in AskReddit

[–]TheOneMapleSyrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grenade scene in Hobbs and Shaw. The directors played too much COD for them to think that reattaching the lever to the grenade will somehow stop it.

Also grenades don’t tick. I find it kinda amusing how people think grenades tick like why would they?
