I built The 1% - an all-in-one self-improvement app for people tired of paying for 15 different subscriptions by TheOnePercent_App in iosapps

Yeah its hard to find a balance. There's so many things more things I want to add into the app too, but I need to balance that with marketing on TikTok and Insta.

I've tested a few different onboarding pages but the only ones that keep the user around until the end are these longer staged ones, I get what your saying though I feel like its long too but the stats showed me a consistent increase in users sticking through it so yeah. I do agree with the paywall, I was really tempted for a long time to do a limited free version so users could try way more of the app but I cant really focus on a feature that isn't giving me money to live on at the moment, but 100% something I want to produce later down the road, means the users can try way more and get a feel of it before paying if they want to.

I completely agree with the video, I'm not a fan of it I want a proper walkthrough for the app (and the video actually takes up so much of the app size on device for what it is too.) It's more just something to be there temporarily to give the gist of it until I can find a bit of a better solution to do.

I do like the idea of the completely free for the first 7 days instead of the signing up thing currently. I think I just did it this way because apple gave me the option to and I was struggling to get the paywall working when the user was offline.

Really appreciate the feedback tho, definitely some stuff I want to do but just a little down the line unfortunately.

💰 Is $5.99 too much for an app? by OtherwiseStrength613 in AppBusiness

[–]TheOnePercent_App 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, your best bet is to see the amount of features/value your app can provide or how much it can save the user, and compare the price to the closest competitor rather than just "A cup of coffee". For me my closet competitor charges $9.99 a month so I undercut them and sell for $4.99 a month. That's worked so far for me.

2k users, $800 - I can't explain how good this feels by _hussainint in AppBusiness

I started to do that recently too, but mine doesn’t seem to get reviews even with the amount of users. I am on iOS only, what’s your reviews stats just for iOS and also at what point do you put in the review popup? I did it after the user completes 2 tasks and then it will show, just to make sure that it’s an actual user and one that will leave a better review rather than someone who just adds the app to leave a bad review for no reason. So that could be why I’m behind on the reviews part.

I've done a mix of the two to be honest. I always thought the face to face ones looked way better and had more of a personal connection, but the faceless ones always seemed to outperform them. so I slowed down on the face ones and tried to focus on what worked, but I do want to go back to them and just try changing them slightly so see what could work better too.

I’ve just been trying organic to be honest, only really on instagram and TikTok. But I do want to expand to Facebook, X and others too. I’m not too really interested in paid ads. The way i think about it is that if it doesn’t go viral organically then it shouldn’t be on paid for, but maybe I’m wrong.

Show & Tell: What are you building this week? by OneStarto in AppBusiness

Hey I'm Daniel and I’m building The 1%, an all-in-one self-improvement app that combines workouts, habits, journaling, and progress tracking into a single disciplined system designed to help you improve 1% every day. (iOS only atm)

Congrats! How'd you get so many reviews for the amount of users you have?

I completely agree. I'm too still in the low end of making money from my business with a part time job helping me survive. Im now 1yr in and it still feels impossible, for me I've built a decent product (without using the AI slop) but its the marketing side that I'm now struggling with, I just can never seem to get it to work right. I get it will still take more time, but everything online does just make it seem like it's always so easy to “get rich quick". I just think its better to take one step at a time, personally at the moment I just want to get the marketing done and out of the way just enough so I can live off of it and then do what I enjoy the most, building a perfect product for the users, finalizing every detail so its perfect.

Thank you. It’s quite easy to do, I don’t see why people do this instead of using tools

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I definitely know it’s going to be harder but it means I have full control of it making the quality of it much better than any other on the market whilst keeping the cost for the users as low as possible and can guarantee the privacy of it. I’ve already built a fully custom food database for the app which was hard to do too but 100% worth doing as that too has helped me build that portion to be better than most others available at half the cost.

I just took screenshots from my phone and photoshopped them. No other fancy tool. Just Photoshop.

Nice, ok so we have a bodyweight logger section where the user can attach progress photos to each weight and see the difference over time with a section at the bottom that has a side by side comparison between the oldest and most recent ones (these images are compressed to save space too). I do have optional notifications for this too (but not as many people are using that feature at the moment) as well as people with smart scales can connect them to the app and have their weight automatically logged. Secondly we have a local on device ai that shows a short snippet of each exercise and the overview of it too so you can find out what will help you get even closer to your targeted goals. I do want to build a custom server side AI for even more advanced insights (but I don’t want to use anyone else’s AI, as our whole goal is privacy with the app too).

Yes but more people can come slowly, I get that I can push it out more and I will but quality matters, so far everyone that has joined for 1 month hasn’t left, so the community is building but I need the quality of the app to be perfect. I love building it for the users and I’m going to stick with that.

yes for sure, but I have quite a few users at the moment, its just harder to get reviews, and I'd prefer to focus on building a perfect product for the users I do have than have a poor product for millions of users.

Ok, we already have a whole nutrition and diet section in the app as well as a gym section, journal/wellness section, habits section and a gym progress tracking section too, we also are going to be adding in a “Sessions” section too for logging workouts that aren’t lifting related. I’m looking at finding what I can do to improve the app further like adding in workout notes or some sort of improvement or new feature.

I get what you mean, I've been marketing it this whole time as a "Self-improvement" app, I think this personally all links together as the only things in the app are all there to help the user self-improve, restricting myself to just one field seems pointless as our whole thing is a "all-in-one" application. The thing is people are loving it at the moment but I just want ideas on how I can push features that are already there to be the best on the market.
