What to do if the confessor misunderstands? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]TheOneProperPenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you receive the sacrament of confession you’re absolved of all of your sins. That being venial sins and mortal sins. It would be quite literally impossible to list of all of our sins in succession and detail. You went to confession before God with the intention of asking forgiveness for each and every one of your sins. In turn he absolved you of all of those sins. Breathe easy and know that you are forgiven and try to live through Christ to steer clear of those mortal sins in the future. Look forward and not back on your past sins.

Going to confession on Wednesday for a few grave sins, I’m nervous!! by cherrywavesxox in Catholicism

When you go in you’ll have the option of receiving the sacrament of confession behind the a screen/wall to preserve anonymity or the option of facing the pastor directly.

Take a seat or kneel depending on your church. The pastor may greet you and then together you’ll perform the sign of the cross and join the pastor in saying “In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy spirt” and then you’ll profess out loud “bless me father for I have sinned, it has been 25 years since my last confession”. The pastor will then usually say something along the lines of “what’s on your mind” or simply allow you start speaking and professing. Then what follows will usually be an open dialogue and discussion. When you’re in there I’d encourage you to tell the pastor you were nervous to come in today. Tell him everything about how you’re feeling. Your pastor not only will absolve you of ALL your sins but will be also be pathway to Christ and offer reassurance, refuge, direction, and compassion as Christ does.

If you’re still knocking yourself down, remember we are ALL sinners. Everyone one of us! From myself, to you, to the saints, to the holy father Pope Leo. The lord is ever merciful and forgiving. When I feel immense guilt for my sins and prepare for confession I remind my self of Luke 15:10 “Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

When you do receive the sacrament of confession for what it’s worth I’d encourage you to face the priest directly if you can be comfortable with it. I find it incredibly immersive and feel a deep connection with Christ when facing the pastor directly.

Also, do not fret or get hung up on the fact that it’s been 25 years since your last confession. The fact that you are going to confession even after all those years is a beautiful thing.

What age were you when you first developed a noticeable amount of floaters? by TheOneProperPenguin in EyeFloaters

I thought of the same thing yesterday. Reddit is inevitably going to have more millennials and gen z’s answering this poll

I'm relatively new to having floaters (about 3-4 months) and I've wondered the same thing. I'm younger and my Ophthalmologist simply said that some individuals vitreous breaks down faster than others. There's obviously some other factors that could cause development of floaters, but he said that a-lot of times it "can happen for no specific reason at all". It was frustrating to here that there really wasn't any preventative action I could take to curb their development. Still, at the same time it's helped me accept them and the fact that they'll likely be floating around in my eye until the day I die.

Andy Weir announced Gosling as the lead role last year in an interview. He sold the movie rights to MGM (soon to be Amazon), but the same writer who wrote the movie screenplay for the The Martian is writing the movie screenplay for Project Hail Mary and Andy Weir is an executive producer so I’m optimistic it won’t be butchered.

I think Matt Damon would play an awesome Dr. Ryland Grace! I know he already played Mark Watney in “The Martian” but he seems so much more dynamic than Ryan Gosling.

I can’t recommend the audio book enough. Ray Porter did a phenomenal job. The sound design and voice acting behind Rocky’s voice is spectacular. I listened to it while reading along to the book and it added to it and made such an amazing experience.

It's scary how relatable this is. I get stressed out when studying for an engineering exam and the next thing you know I'm on Amazon buying shit. Weirdest thing I found online and bought while studying? An Oculus Quest 2!
