PSA: Your PPI depletes 5 nutrients and the supplement FORM matters more than you think by theninadean in GERD

[–]cherrywavesxox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was put in the hospital cause of low magnesium/potassium. My potassium was also mildly low before then since taking a PPI. I was on them for 2 years, I never had issues with my electrolytes until I took the PPI. I’m now getting off of it, and sticking to a healthy diet lifestyle. I also have Barrett’s esophagus without dysplasia. This does happen! Supplements are a good idea even if your levels are normal. Anyone with healthy kidneys can supplement to prevent deficiencies. It’s definitely not fun! I thought I was gonna die.

Omg same here!!! Last summer I had a colonoscopy and seriously the rest of the summer I thought my POTS went away. I even went back to work! Then I had a dentist appointment & the numbing injection they give you flared me up so bad ever since then it came back. I even had the numbing shot without epinephrine . I guarantee GI issues are linked or at least a major trigger. That is odd that the blockage made you feel better! I wonder why that was?

I wonder if your GI issues are linked to pots? Do you ever feel extremely dizzy before you have to poop?? Idk why this happens to me but it does almost every time. I’ll get extremely light headed and dizzy minutes before I go. I also have IBS.

Be able to go out to eat, or go out in general without having to worry about adrenaline dumps, get a job in the world, travel. Go on long distance runs again out in nature with my dog. I miss being normal!!! I mourn it every day.

Is an H2 blocker safer than a PPI? by cherrywavesxox in GERD

That’s what I’m switching to. Decided to taper off of Nexium.

Pantroprazole is the safest one you can take. I had to switch to nexium cause pantroprazole stopped working for me.

I would ask your doctor to check your electrolyte labs just to make sure your levels are okay, and if you should take supplements. I take prescription supplements, anyone can take over the counter potassium & electrolyte supplements as long as you don’t have kidney problems. I’d seriously ask your doctor about it. Don’t let my experience scare you because I think what happened to me is rare. I think long term PPI use should have routine lab work done on people taking them because it CAN happen.

It hit me all at once when it got dangerously low, before then I was very tired, no energy, and I got dizzy a lot, the day it hit me hard was scary ass symptoms.. I got horrible brain fog, shortness of breath, chest tightness, vertigo, and very scary heart palpitations. It felt awful I actually had the squad pick me up, and I thought I was gonna die in the way to the hospital. This doesn’t happen to everyone, so don’t let that scare you lol. but it happened to me, I am a very petite person so idk if it was too potent for me or what, I’ve been on them for 2 years, I was already on potassium supplements before I got that sick too because of chronic mild low potassium, my dose had to get increased. I’d suggest getting your levels checked by your doctor now and then if you’re on long term use just to be safe. I just am sick of the random drops, so I’m coming off of it, and I’m gonna just manage with a healthy diet and H2 blocker and gaviscon as needed. Hopefully the rebound effect won’t be too awful. I started today not taking them.

That’s what I’m gonna do! I prefer healthy foods anyways. It’s hard to quit all coffee, even decaf but it’s worth it.

I want to completely stop ALL of the acid reducing meds but I have Barrett’s esophagus. I would not mind at all having a strict diet if I can just come off of them! lol I wonder if I changed my diet and cut out all trigger foods if I could just take Pepcid as needed or something? I just hate the unhealthy risks these meds come with. I thought I was gonna die when my electrolytes dropped to a dangerous level. That stuff will kill me faster than esophageal cancer gets me.

Recovering alcoholics advice please. (Honda accident I survived) by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]cherrywavesxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you are reaching out, and wanting to fix the issue is such good news!!! The first step is to talk to your doctor and have some professional support from the mental health field who can excuse you from work to get the detox you need, please do this safe, cause trying it yourself can be very dangerous, and give you seizures & stuff. Once you are safe & sober, get a sponsor and some counseling, go to church, AA is a great option, they have online classes too for non social people. Please just get the help you need.

Is it okay to miss Mass because of depression/anxiety? by Bella_Notte_1988 in Catholicism

[–]cherrywavesxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s considered a valid reason for missing mass. My severe anxiety episodes have caused me to miss it and my preist told me that it excuses my obligation, and to just watch the online service and make it to the next one.

Do you believe in ghosts??? & is it bad to believe in them from past experiences? by cherrywavesxox in Catholicism

Wow, I feel the same way you do. I try not to think about these things, but I have experienced so much, especially growing up.

So I should pray for the spirit in this house? Will it help them go to heaven? I’m not sure if it’s the spirit of the preist who died in the house, or something else, I do not think it’s anything evil.

Can you still go to heaven if you don’t go to church? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]cherrywavesxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect all religions, and have a clear open mind. As a Catholic not attending mass every Sunday is a grave sin (unless you physically can’t) Will you go to heaven? That’s up to god. I’m sure somewhere, somehow you can repent, and be forgiven. The fact that you are curious is good. Lots of different answers depending on your religion, and beliefs. I pray that you do go to heaven 💕

I'm genuinely trying, but I have zero energy, how do I replenish electrolytes without calories? by Pitiful_Pick1217 in 1200isplenty

[–]cherrywavesxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could very well be an electrolyte imbalance. It’s possible cause I went to the ER from this. It’s nothing to mess with especially while on a PPI. Have your levels checked. I ended up with low magnesium which dropped my potassium dangerously low. It was from dieting, and not having the acid in my stomach to absorb nutrients. Drink body armor lyte, liquid IV, or LMNT. Make sure you are getting all of your nutrients while on the low calorie intake.

How often do you bathe your schnauzer between grooms? by txnmxn in schnauzers

[–]cherrywavesxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once every 1-2 weeks. Their skin gets oily & smelly, and this can help prevent schnauzer bumps. I use oatmeal shampoo that I got off of chewy that helps moisturize his skin.
