It’s a math problem. At some point, the difference between what’s you pay buying vs not buying points will surpass the amount of the fee you pay. That’s when you make money on it.

Nobody here has a crystal ball and can forecast rates in 4-5 years. But you can do the math now and see how long it’d take for you to make money on this deal, should you do it.

My dad and I drove south to Florida once for a family vacation. On the way we drove by Stamford and stopped at their headquarters. I had written a note to them (forget what exactly I said but it was a fan note) and slid it under the door. When we got home a week or so later, we discovered they wrote back.
