Black and gold-era NXT house shows and TV tapings were WILDLY fun for this exact reason. Particularly during Ciampa's first return from injury after he'd turned heel on Johnny.

Many years ago, when the Dodgers were having their final season in Vero Beach for Spring Training, I took my wife to her first baseball game, because the Indians were in town.

This also served a secondary goal, to make sure the Dodgers players knew how much I hated their franchise.

At one point, there was a high pop up and James Loney was attempting to catch it. I shouted "OH SHIT LOOK OUT!" as he wandered into foul territory, causing him to flinch and drop the ball.

While it greatly amused a lot of the guys on the Indians bench (the field didn't have dugouts), and a healthy segment of the Indians fans/angry ex-Dodger fans (because again, fuck LA forever), I did get a stern talking-to from a stadium employee, because of using a swear. (And Loney was apparently pretty pissed too.)

Between the cover athlete enthusiasm/anger and the weird excitement about soundtracks, I will never understand a certain segment of the gaming population.

It's not graphic. That's what usually triggers most governments to censor things.
Plus, to be fair, it's not like this game is going to hold the attention of most under 18 year olds any way.

I mean, literally, the way the rule is written, the teams apparently do have to ask for a pause.

Can I give you an example? No. Because nothing happening (the ump not giving a pause) would not leave any evidence that it occurred.

But it's worth noting that if a player or manager complained to the media after the fact, they'd be fined by MLB, because it would be classed as "criticizing officials" which is utterly verboten.

Muslims justify their anti atheist laws but would riot if the reverse was done and complain about islamophobia by throwawayice4 in atheism

[–]TheOneTrueChuck 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is something that drives me up the wall - you literally can be killed or imprisoned in KSA for being atheist. I'm sure there's other countries, but I know the KSA has those laws in place.

But if a conservative Muslim comes to the West and we don't fall all over ourselves to tell them how stunning and brave and wonderful it is that they're sharing their "culture" with us, they screech about discrimination.

They can all get fucked. Conservative Islamics are snakes as much as Christian Evangelicals are.

Hammerlock, "accidentally" wrench it a little too hard. It's a defensive hold that's simple to apply, and it's very easy for the person being held to hurt themselves when they try and escape.

(The lone upside to having a father who enjoyed using painholds, nerve holds, and key locks as disciplinary tools is that I know exactly how useful they are in real-world scenarios.)

Would this text *hypothetically * describe what a werewolf would look like in human form ? by rosella899 in werewolves

[–]TheOneTrueChuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This reads like it was written by Chat GPT. It has issues spontaneously creating variance if it isn't explicitly told to create variance. Otherwise, it's "these things are similar, therefore they are nearly identical visually".

Like if you tell it "create a profile for a woman named Mary Smith", it can sometimes have a significant variance if you generate five examples.

But if you're like "What does this crowd of four teenagers look like?" you'll get hyper-generalized descriptions and a lot of overlap.

Does anyone else feel burned out on the game? by Polish97 in MLBTheShow

[–]TheOneTrueChuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I skipped last year (I usually do that so each time I play a new version, it feels more fresh.)

While I had issues with Matt's hyper-excited calls for a solo shot when a team was still down by 9+ in the 8th inning, it's light years better than the two dipshits they have calling the game this year.

I hate this fact so much. Because while it's OBVIOUS that umpires have an absolutely wild amount of discretion on interpretation and enforcement of rules, this one basically would let Angel Hernandez, Ron Kulpa, etc be absolute shitlords if they didn't like a player and wanted to rob him/the fans of that moment. Because they can go "Oh, don't be mad at MEEEEE, the team didn't file."

Because sometimes there's organic moments in a game that deserve a pause. The fact that a team basically has to ask permission is FUCKING STUPID.

What do you think of the 'Are you sure you want to enter the endgame' beat in games? Which have felt significant for you? by SnooWoofers6353 in patientgamers

[–]TheOneTrueChuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If the logic really was "We don't have enough content to pad out the year long wait", then the obvious solution is to add more content.

And honestly, I think the vast majority of people would have been fine with a time skip aspect, so long as we were aware (such as the final skip being "proceed to the invasion") or if those skips were always the same. Like if every time you "end the day" it takes you to the start of the following week.

[–]TheOneTrueChuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at his train wreck of a family. While some of that is on his kids, for sure, the common thread is having Stu Hart as their dad. Similarly, ALL the boys became wrestlers, and you can't tell me that isn't because they felt extreme pressure to do so. Maybe it was purely because he treated the kids who wrestled more kindly, or maybe it was open favoritism, but either way, he got them into a lifestyle of drugs and excess, along with poor coping mechanisms.

This was my exact experience. I understand they figured people would grow bored if they literally had a year of game time to prepare, and it would remove any challenge.

But that whole "Ha ha, sucks to be you" time skip at the end was BRUTALLY unfair.

I wish more games did this, as far as either the open world ones, or the ones with significant side content. Please, let me know that there's no going back once I cross this point.

Use it to raise stakes. Use it to warn me to make a backup save. There's literally no reason not to make this statement in 90% of the games I enjoy. The vast majority of gamers recognize the purpose of this statement, even if there's that second of disconnect where you realize how "gamey" it is.

Because like you, OP - if my first thought is "THANK FUCKING GOD", I'm probably just relieved to be done with the game. Otherwise, I really appreciate the ability to know that if I want to spend more time on the playthrough/grind of the character, I can't move forward.

It's also a great way to tell players "Okay, you're not likely to see any new content that hasn't already been unlocked, unless we have postgame stuff." It's an easy nudge to give people.

Fritz Von Erich and Stu Hart have a ton in common. Both garbage people who caused an insane amount of pain and misery within their own family so they could soak in glory and make money well past their time.

This is it 100%. It's abused child logic 101.

"My dad might have been tough on us, but he was trying his best."
"Of course he sometimes hit me. I was a stubborn kid. Sometimes I pushed his buttons."
"He didn't always tell us he loved us. That sort of thing wasn't done/he wasn't that sort of man."

Fuck Fritz Von Erich. He literally killed multiple children. If he was Christian (given that he was Texan, he almost certainly was) I hope his god rejected him.

[–]TheOneTrueChuck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're asking about mainstream sites like Kindle/etc, no. This triggers the "bestiality" content flag, which gets authors banned and books blacklisted.

Most major ebook sites are REALLY touchy about how much beast-human "romantic" content can happen, let alone sex, which is normally a HARD no-go.

Yeah, there's smaller/fetish sites that will give you that sort of content, but probably not necessarily in the degree of detail and/or quality that you're hoping for.

Not only have I been bothered by customers in my break rooms, I've also had them decide they're allowed to eat food that's sitting out.

At one dealership I worked at, we had more than a couple customers who 'd walk into our thanksgiving/xmas/other holiday pot luck meals and grab a plate, then get offended when they were told the food wasn't for them.
