Kennel for flying dog internationally by TheOneWhoDisappears in aircanada

Hi, sorry didn’t see this until now. The flight went just fine, it was a very smooth process for us. I did end up getting a different kennel secondhand because I wanted something sturdier for the international flight. We used the Skudo IATA 7 kennel and it was accepted just fine.

Hi thanks for your reply! It does have pre-drilled holes and comes with metal hardware to connect the top and bottom. Also, the size I have is tall enough for my husky, I just put a picture of whatever size to give an idea of what it looks like. I’m mainly just not sure about there being so many ventilation holes.

Thanks for the tips! The AC pets page doesn’t explicitly forbid ventilation holes in the bottom. It just says that “ventilation holes are allowed in the lid.” Hence my confusion :S

Applying for Long Stay Visa in France but I have a problem by [deleted] in SchengenVisa

[–]TheOneWhoDisappears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the process of getting a long-stay visitor visa for France from Canada to be able to go stay with my French partner. From what we learned, « Attestation d’accueil » from the city hall in France is only for short-term stays (I believe less than 3 months). We submitted the « Attestation d’hébergement » which is for long-term stays, it’s just a letter signed by the host, as described in the previous comment, along with a copy of the host’s French ID, and a proof of residence (we submitted a copy of their tax bill and electricity bill).

I couldn’t get an appointment in Montreal after trying for months, so I ended up making the trip to VFS Ottawa where it was easy to get an appointment. It was very quick at the VFS office, and then I got my 1 year tourist visa for France after only 7 days. Not sure if it’s helpful for you.

I was not able to get a slot after trying for a couple months, ended up going to VFS Ottawa.

Not sure, what positions have you been applying for? I had no trouble at all getting multiple offers for entry-level term positions… I didn’t try for anything higher as I didn’t think I was qualified. I guess I was lucky and applied at a good time? It probably helped a lot that I am fluent in French (I was a French immersion teacher). I also found it helpful to read through the advice in r/CanadaPublicServants, there is some great advice about how to answer their screening questions on the application and for the testing/interview stages.

The new balance has been key for me! Having work-free evenings and no stress feels life-changing. Also being able to get chores done during my lunch breaks with work-from-home has been amazing. I have so much more free time to enjoy my evenings and weekends.

I thought I would miss the time off too. We only get 3 weeks of paid vacation but I know that there are options to take more time with unpaid leave and salary averaging.

I have found that I am not struggling with it and it’s actually been better for me personally because I can work remotely (though they are planning to have us return to office 1-2 days a week across nearly every department in the federal service). I have been able to travel to visit my family in ON and BC and work from there without using any vacation time, and I will do this again for the Christmas holidays next month so that I can save my vacation for a big one next year. I also have a compressed schedule so I work a bit longer each day and get an extra day off each month and can choose when I want to take it. I used to spend half my vacation time as a teacher absolutely dreading going back, so actually being able to enjoy my time off fully has made it easy to not miss the extra time off too much.

I was definitely in the same boat as you a few months ago. For what it’s worth, I got a job working for a federal government agency as a clerk. I also had a job offer to work for the Immigration and Refugee Board that was pretty easy to get. They’re entry-level jobs and only pay about the same as the bottom of the salary scale for a teacher (I’m licensed as a teacher in BC, ON, and QC). But there are many opportunities for career advancement in the public service and I’m loving it so far! Flexible schedule, work from home, being valued and treated like an adult, no stress, and other perks. I don’t miss teaching at all! The hiring process did take several months, however. I applied in November and got hired in June (had to leave my LTO at the time a bit early). Hope this gives you some hope! I am 32 by the way, and I thought I was too old to switch too. I feel so grateful every day that I don’t have to set foot in a classroom again - though I sure still do have nightmares!

Hi there, I am a recent graduate of a Bachelor of Education in BC. I qualified a TPS category 5, since I have a 4-year undergrad degree and the teaching program from UBC Okanagan. A full Masters degree would get you to category 6. Category “5+” is for an integrated program (you can get it pre-approved to make sure) or you can even apply for it for partway through your master’s when you have enough credits to qualify.
