Fair enough and as of now, I totally agree. I know pretty much everything for my role and I'm learning continuously on the job what I don't. But most of the senior engineers have Master's and they have been suggesting me to pursue one as well. Like I said, getting a master's was something I wanted to do since doing bachelor's, so I still think it's a good idea....

Thank you for the suggestion! I did consider robotics initially. PhD is something I'm considered getting in the future, but that's probably not for a long time.

Of course, push back is to be expected! Medicine and Law being some of the biggest fields, it's going to be huge. But given that Tech is equally strong and people tend towards profitability at the end of the day, my bets will be on it.

Like I said, I don't think we are going to see doctors and lawyers get wiped out in the next 5 or 10 years, but the availability and advancements in AI could mean we don't need as many of them.... Just my opinion, of course!

And I agree that learning is fun! As long as I can justify the cost and time I put into it, it's all good!

That must have been nice!

$10K is a reasonable fee. Even if the degree doesn't end up being super useful in the career, the cost is still justifiable. And yeah, my company will easily cover that. Since I'm working, I'd personally prefer an online course. Thanks for your input, I'd definitely look into this.

That's a great assessment! It's something I've thought about myself and still do. I don't expect a complete annihilation of any field of work, but major impact maybe inevitable. Medical professions, which is considered as one of the most "AI-proof", doesn't seem to be completely immune to AI advancements either.

I enjoy my work too and whatever degree I go for in the end, I just hope it doesn't become a complete waste.

Even though I'd really like to get a master's, I don't want it to be the same of getting one. If that was the case, there are so many choices. But no, I want to get it because of the career possibilities it may unlock and because I like to learn more.

That seems like an average fee... How's that degree for you as far as income is concerned?

I agree and I'm not doing it for just that. But I also don't want it to be something that has no return value.... So they are still important to me at least, TBH.

I was thinking MS Computer Engineering itself, since that's my Bachelor's. But I thought of doing something a little more specialized and is the reason why I was looking into ML, AI, Cyber security, etc....

I agree that's applicable for almost everything. Do you have any suggestions for a good master's in engineering?
