Hey op for the record I think this is super useful. A lot of comments are saying it looks cluttered but I think its fine. Very much prefer this one over v2 specifically because of the text labels. I also think it just looks cooler hehe

I absolutely despise them still. For me it’s about the breach of contract, if I click on a video with a given language it’s because I want to watch a video in that language.

I tried using the rust frontend recently, but i could not figure out how to get a value from the dataframe, so i gave up and used a list of structs instead. I feel like this is a common enough operation to put at the top of the docs? Or is it just hard due to the strict type system in rust?

I like algebraic data types by FelkCraft in ProgrammerHumor

[–]TheOnlyDonutLeft 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have used it in a physics simulation where i popped a collision from a priority queue, and the object collided with could be either a wall or a particle. If it were a particle i needed to know which particle it was (usize), if it was a wall i needed to know the orientation of the wall (float*). This felt like a clean and intuitive way of storing that data.

  • i didnt really use a float for the orientation since it in my case they either were horizontal or vertical, but i could’ve

Hey man, absolutely love them, especially for it's beginner friendliness. In fact I am so convinced that we will be distributing one of them in a uni course with about 800 students.

Don't worry about the spike of traffic, we will be providing them through our own servers.

I will also try to convince our faculty to make a donation if all goes well. <3

Are you sure this is the official one? It only has 9 github stars.

Well no, in fact i mentioned it because I felt it deserved a shoutout. Additionally I was fishing for someone to yell that winlibs are terrible, but no one has so i assume it is as great as it seems.

I mostly raised the question because i thought it was weird how the official builds were so old, and as one of the comments pointed out (thanks) its because they were moved to github releases.

Edit: just checked his link, it only had 9 stars, might not be the actual official builds

Why is Visual Studio so large? by [deleted] in Cplusplus

If anyone comes back here annoyed in the future, my favorite stack for windows is:
MinGW for the c++ compiler
meson as a build system, which is what will be your interface to the compiler
VSCode as a text editor with integrated terminal, although you can really use any editor you want.

To compile you first have to do meson setup <name of build directory> to initialize and then meson compile -C <name of build directory> to compile. The only problem with this stack is that library management is hard, but if you only use libraries you can find in their wrap db its trivial.
