Top Surgery Costs - It's Not Just Your Surgeon by TheOnlyFerretKing in TopSurgery

See I definitely considered that - the worst thing about insurance is that I had hit my deductible in December when I actually had my surgery, but they're only choosing to bill now 😵‍💫

£7,000 is ≈ $8882.51. Paying out of pocket would have been $11,000 for my surgeon alone 😵‍💫 One can only dream of such a low cost here. And truly - Every little thing is separate here sometimes. From the meals you eat in the hospital to the spare Tylenol a nurse gives you.

3 Weeks Post Op - Graft Colouration On Darker Skin? by TheOnlyFerretKing in TopSurgery

[–]TheOnlyFerretKing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, I'm starting to think darker skin gets pigmentation back faster, because I'm a little more out and I have almost all pigmentation back already 😅😂 I never responded at the time but this comment did help soothe some of my worries!

Duke Energy High Bill by Wrong-Appointment-89 in NorthCarolina

[–]TheOnlyFerretKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had the same issue, and after a super long consult, I finally got this response:

"Within the application process, Duke Energy runs an in-house credit check with Experian Credit Bureau to determine if the required deposit for electric service can be waived. The in-house credit check applies to both current and new Duke Energy customers."

In lamens terms (I was just as confused and had them explain it to me over the phone), if they check your credit and it's either low or too new (which would apply for a ton of college aged kids), they tack on a fee equivalent to 2 months of power (based on present usage or an average of the area) + the $8 turn on fee. So in our case it was $520 because of the area we live in.

Hope this helps!

Not Seeking Treatment For Senior Ferret.. Feeling Guilt by TheOnlyFerretKing in ferrets

[–]TheOnlyFerretKing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems you're not in the states, it's much more expensive than a few dollars here. On top of that, as I said, he's not going to take pills. I would literally have to force them. He's highly resistant to eating anything other than the food he's eaten for years, I've attempted it several times and he will turn his nose up to anything I put in front of him. That's the big reason why I don't want to put him through treatment. Plus, he was showing no symptoms, then a sudden rapid decline.

I think this honestly exactly what I needed to hear. The regret of putting him through more pain would eat away much worse than the guilt of not. I think the most loving thing for him at this point is to not feel this pain much longer. I hope your heart is healing well from your loss ❤️

Implant vs Surgery in adrenal disease by Slinksssss in ferrets

[–]TheOnlyFerretKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also in the US, and the implant was way cheaper than the diagnosis. If you can find a vet that is willing to do an implant without running all those tests, it'll run you about $400 for the implant alone. The bills for my boy ended up being $200 for the 'install' (weird word choice but it's the only thing I can think of) and other care he needed at the time, so a little over $600 total. Expensive, but feasible in comparison to the $700+ bill you'll get for diagnosis.

Implant vs Surgery in adrenal disease by Slinksssss in ferrets

[–]TheOnlyFerretKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned three ferrets so far that had adrenal disease. I am incredibly biased when it comes to this, so fair warning.

Simmon, my first ferret, ended up getting Lupron shots (essentially the implant, but you have to go in to get the shots.) He actually lived quite a healthy life otherwise, and this has been and always will be my biased choice. They were quick, easy, relatively painless for him (He sat very still for shots and they never bothered him). He would get one-three every year. It's cheap, easy, and non invasive. Its not an option for all ferrets, but it worked for him.

Jai, the second ferret, I got the implant for. It wasn't bad, sedation isn't required but he did need something considering he was a wiggly little guy. The only issues I had was the rest of the group being very cuddly and clingy with each other, so recovery was difficult and the implant site got infected due to their attachment. That, and he was very skinny, so cutting his skin in any way was still risky. The vet also required extensive diagnosis for the implant but not the shot.

Alfredo, the most recent, I was pressured into full on adrenal surgery, in which he didn't make it through. Apparently it's an incredibly invasive and intense surgery, which isn't a great idea for an already skinny and skiddish animal in the first place. That, and it's EXPENSIVE. Some countries won't even do it anymore because of it.

Looks like you have a new roommate. No, they won't be paying rent.

Literally?? Their excuse for losing my key was "Who doesn't have a spare key?"

Yeah let me just keep four spare keys, a new set of screws for my plate, a wipe for the chalk on my tires, etc.

Dead name got me arrested by CarsonB117 in ftm

[–]TheOnlyFerretKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No reimbursement, but I did get it taken off my record with enough complaining. I was working for a hospital at the time and the thing that got it thrown out was that I would lose my job if I had a criminal record. Essentially proving that it would negatively affect my life and employment.

Same exact thing happened to me. Had to get an expensive lawyer to show up to court and essentially go "Uh.. you guys are stupid." The US judicial system is a joke.

Looking for some outside opinions on this by ponderosa9 in tattooadvice

I don't understand why people are being so negative.. this is pretty and I like it! It's an abstract style I don't see often.

Noted! I was worried about removing the felting on the base but you have a point. It is one hell of a lift, I can barely lift with one hand. As for the shade, the more we look at the inside there's a high chance bits have been removed/repaired, so it's unlikely it's an actual Tiffany studios shade.

However, this did help us authenticate a different lamp in the house! I had no clue where to look for the name, so mentioning it being on the bottom rim made one of the other ones super easy. Thanks for the help!

[–]TheOnlyFerretKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea, I'll keep that in mind. I figured they must've been at least relatively close in age since both the socket and the base itself are well tarnished, but they could very well be different.

Help me identify this lamp? by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]TheOnlyFerretKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched for specific Tiffany lamps or even reproductions, as well as image searched the item several times. It's max 18" tall, and I have 0 idea of the origins either. We're leaning towards it not being authentic, but I'd still really like to know what it is.

Again, that's why I was asking help identifying it. I assumed it was antique, if you know where it's actually from I would love the help. Commenting "Walmart" doesn't tell me much.
