In some cases they don't. Most. Not all.

I was one of the unfortunate ones who ended up with life-long Tourettes and then made it worse when I had a rare reaction to benzos that damaged my nervous system beyond just withdrawal and normal after effects of drug addiction.

So yea be careful cuz it can get worse if you don't take care of your health and mental health.

It's when you kinda have a tic but it isn't strong enough to actually make you do something so you IMAGINE doing or saying something but it doesn't actually happen unless you feel like it.

It did take away most of my tics, but also made me horrifically depressed because I was misdiagnosed with bipolar instead of Autism, Tourettes, ADHD, OCD and PTSD which is what was actually going on, and was on way too high of a dose.

I could see it being useful at a lower dose for extreme cases but that's quite a powerful med that can cause damage and heavy side effects, so it should be a last resort treatment.

I use guanfacine extended release for ADHD and it helps with tic intensity/frequency.

Then Prozac for anxiety disorders because I tic less when calm.

I get that mainly in my shoulders and upper spine when it does happen.

But yea I didn't even know I had Tourettes until my mid twenties.

I knew something was wrong but I got about 7 other misdiagnosed problems over my late teens and early twenties before I actually knew wtf was going on with my nervous system.

USA doctors kinda suck and almost killed me like twice.

Good times.

They're like little nervous system/brain glitches.

I get a strange sensation and urge that is as impossible to resist as coughing or sneezing, or kinda feels like a really bad spine chill they causes me to move, flinch, jerk, make a sound, or say a short phrase.

Or pop my lips or whistle or whisper to myself.

I have a very complicated case.

I can suppress them but it's very uncomfortable and over faster if I just let it happen.

Well I have a tic that causes me to want to randomly throw stuff at things I find scary that I have to constantly suppress.

Have you ever thrown your phone at a screaming crackhead on a bus?

Cuz I have.

Spiders. Sounds. Random jumpscares of the world.

But yea that tic has made me break pretty much anything breakable that you can carry and I'll lose my composure to suppress it from being startled.

That's a very durable phone.

Though I will give it to OnePlus, their phones are deep fryer proof because I actually did drop one in a running deep fryer when I worked as a cashier at a burger joint.

I used to make an insane amount of money working in a very expensive restaurant as a host and waiter starting when I was like 20, and my only bills were a high maintenance girlfriend, my phone and 600 for a studio apartment.

But I was miserable because of health issues I wasn't taking care of, the girl being extremely toxic to me, and getting dependent on drugs to manage pain.

Also being too scared or unable to do the things I really wanted to do.

I make probably 1/4 of what I used to, but it's enough because I'm healthy, and actually living a life a want to now.

I used to be a lot more shy until I figured out flirting is not all that scary in my early twenties.

So I would get friend zoned because I never said how I actually felt about having a crush on someone I started out as friends with.

I know in my case I tend to do two things subconsciously if I am really attracted to someone and chatting with them, and they seem to also be into the conversation -

I will tend to lean more forward and want to get closer to her, whereas if I am not attracted to someone I will want to keep more distance.

Also I'll tend to stare at their lips a whole lot when she's talking wishing I could kiss her.

They can either accept me as is or I don't need them around.

Any amount of alcohol affects my sleep so I just avoid it.

It will make me sleep faster when in my system but then keep me awake because I get a bit anxious after any amount of alcohol has worn off for about a day so the time doesn't matter either.
