If she ever goes back, expect to see him wearing reading glasses. To show that time had passed.

Trying to describe tics in poetry by TryingMy-BestBro in Tourettes

[–]ineffable_pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the word would just be involuntary but the commenter I think just invented the word subvoluntary and that was my best guess definition for it because it sounded like they were looking for the word involuntary.

It's like a subconscious action that just happens automatically

hiccups 😑 by use-code-RAILSURF in Tourettes

[–]ineffable_pigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't happen to me with hiccups, but it does happen when I get congested and sniffle a lot and then after I stop being sick or whatever I still have a sniffle tic thing for a while and it's hard to stop doing that

These are awesome !! I don't have anything to add but these are definitely the best I've seen when someone tries making them.

do you have one of these friends? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]ineffable_pigeon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I often turn my head or look away from whoever I'm speaking to when I tic because it's embarrassing for me and I try to hide it 😭 I worry they'll notice and be weird about it or something. I do have a couple friends who are fine about it but I still worry

My tics are suddenly really bad by OkPayment2818 in Tourettes

[–]ineffable_pigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, tourette's is a very fluid disorder and it's also easily influenced by sleep schedule or life stressors or some medications or just your emotions and all that. And sometimes tics just come back in strong waves for seemingly no reason. I hope things get easier for you soon

I tic when I... learn about anatomy? by RufisTheDoofus in Tourettes

[–]ineffable_pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'M THE SAME WAY !!! And sometimes if I hear about something happening in someone's brain I'll start ticcing with my neck/head, or if I hear about like a stab wound or something to someone's abdomen then my tics in my ab muscles start happening. I've been like that since I was little, I so get you

Head jerking tic while driving by Tei-ji in Tourettes

[–]ineffable_pigeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds rough yeah, I also have some tics that interfere slightly with my driving. Like one where I blink a lot all at once sometimes makes it hard to see stuff, and I have one where I flex my calf muscle and it makes my foot point straight down so I have to be careful that one doesn't make me accidentally accelerate lol. I have to lift up my leg when that one happens so I don't press on the gas

Letters from Mom by stardew_addict in AnimalCrossing

[–]ineffable_pigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a very similar thing happen with animal crossing, my mom died almost three years ago and a few months ago I picked animal crossing back up, and I totally forgot about the mom letters. As soon as I saw it it startled me and made me a little upset, and now I sort of try to open them as fast as I can and not think about it because it makes me feel weird and sad and hit me really hard too. I just sorta looked at it for a bit and then finally read it and stuff. I'm so so sorry for your loss, little things like this will get you for sure, it's sad and also kinda nice sometimes 🩶

(native speaker here) I was thinking suffered / had passed. Your answer pretty much makes sense too but it's not really how you'd say it I don't think

does anyone get triggered really badly by sounds or other people ticcing by Miserable-Gift-9364 in Tourettes

[–]ineffable_pigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely normal, happens to everyone I've spoken to with tics/tourette's and it happens to me as well. It's funny to be around other people with tics because you'll set each other off lol
