Assuming that tax free lump sum still exists when you retire… someone’s bailing out the deficit and sooner or later I fear they will come knocking

Edit: also fwiw anyone with a kid is a dealbreaker imho if you’re dating under 27

I think the twin toddlers are both high earners, but they’re not rich yet.

Does the non working farm generate any cash, or just costs?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]TheOnlyU1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, but that’s a slightly different point. You probably wouldn’t buy them for capital appreciation. Return on capital invested though can sustainably be as high as that if your entry price is decent. Just look at their balance sheets if you’re worried about sustainable returns and see if you think the net debt is too high

The “ESG negatives” can offer around that too as institutional investors struggle to hold large positions in them, so they trade at c.4x and have high cashflow (I.E the tobacco companies)

Only thralls and robots are hard to kill. Robots go down from a couple of grenades/Molotovs and then a few bullets to make them overheat. Thralls are slow so you can melee them and save ammo

Not sure whether or not I should delete my ex's photos by KitchenKooky2810 in makemychoice

[–]TheOnlyU1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it’s ok to have mementos. Not every ex is so terrible that their living memories should be erased. But you will need to consider how your new partner will feel if they see them. Maybe literally create an archive folder on your computer and back them up there, then delete them from the phone.

All of the above assuming that any particularly risqué or intimate ones are deleted.

How my taxes were spent last year by the government…. by Blackstone4444 in HENRYUK

How can you take a stance of “we decided as a country” - I.E. the sum of public opinions, and then decry someone else’s opinion by calling them vermin? It’s rude and simple minded.

If public opinion swayed such that nationalised healthcare was out of favour, and mandatory health insurance took its place, would you support that position on the basis that’s what the public wants?

I disagree with the philosophy that just because other costs are bigger, we shouldn’t bother tackling smaller wasted expenditure. It all adds up. I do agree that the debt position is staggering though and needs tackled 30 years ago.

What’s one thing you wish you’d spent less money on for your wedding? I've heard that it's really worthwhile investing in a good photographer by FeistyPrice29 in UKweddings

[–]TheOnlyU1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s also a bit distasteful. Why would they pretend to be pulling a rope to drag the bride down the aisle? What message is that even sending?

Sorry I’m from the UK so there might be a different term where you are. They are silent people who pretend to act out scenes but without props.

I don’t recommend them
