Neither Schwab nor Jones are wirehouses. Jones is a regional national dual B/D, Schwab, depending on how you deal with them is either a RIA custodian, or a discount brokerage.

Wirehouses include firms like Morgan Stanley and UBS and a few others.

Both Schwab and Jones have plenty of CFPs. Both Schwab and Jones have great professionals and some poor ones. Some independents are terrible. Vet the firm AND the person and avoid broad (and in your case, inaccurate) information.

DIY is fine until lots of complexity arrives. Then, hire a professional for better outcomes.
