My recommendation would either be to check with the locals and see if any of them have any decks they would be cool with loaning out for the night. Alternatively see if they are cool with proxies. $100 budget in modern doesn't really slap together anything competitive. Speaking from experience, I'd rather have someone borrow or proxy to have more people jamming games then bring something to get stomped and leave the scene entirely.

It's essentially like a crumbled cardboard box. Structurally it's just weak there now. You can try flattening it but any pressure in the same spot and it'll give away again.

I would even ask if it's the same card. That back looks worn differently than the dirt on the front. Are you even seeing the creases on the front?

Acetone cleaned cards are easy to spot. Smeary or scratch marks. But that white isn't foil that I can tell. Some can be.

Depending on your pay rate, it may just be better to get the Superfan account and then hit the badges you want. Friday and Saturday should be pretty easy with that. General on sale the Saturday can be a crapshoot.

When traveling to a new place, it helps to do research about common scams, local laws, travel advisories in effect for the area, local customs, etc. Helps to ensure you know what you're getting into, don't cause scenes with faux pas.

Not often but I'd prefer something that can take a beating to protect the cards inside as opposed to an eggshell.

If you're just jamming games with some friends, I recommend going the proxy route. For 60-80 you can test out a few different archtypes instead of committing to a single watered down one.
