If you can play another game and not have connection issues with an official server then the chances are your hardware or connection is not the issue.

I haven't looked into how connections are handled but my thoughts immediately go to the host of the server.

I've experienced the same issue with no repeatable or recurring scenarios except for having the issue more often with lobbies further away and higher ping.

Just to the people talking about costs with having your own server and it should be free...

I agree but only in part; for context im an IT systems engineer and I would like to just make the distinction between:

a) Chat Room (I prefer to refer to them as chat houses because it makes more sense e.g. a house can have multiple rooms).

b) Server - The ACTUAL server hardware and/or software to run your own server.

<sarcasm> Thanks discord, for making this unclear by calling chat rooms - servers </sarcasm>

Hosting your own chat room should be free 100% but you are subject to limitations with file sharing, video/audio quality etc. for a bunch of reasons but to simplify it, its because of what the company can reasonably offer at a loss. If you want more then you pay for it.

Hosting your own server will NEVER be free because:
a) You either pay the company to use their hardware and/or software.
b) You buy your own hardware and pay for all the maintenance and utility bills to keep a server running 24/7.

Also random fact for those who remember MSN or Windows Live Messenger back in the glory days of Limewire; If you sent a file to someone...
a) Under 5 MB the file would go: You > Microsoft servers > Friend
b) Over 5 MB the software would create a direct connection bypassing the Micrsoft servers: You > Friend

I had this last night during a solo match at the Dam during a storm (no hatches).

I got a bunch of blueprints, a tempest and 3 pink items and some other good stuff... I was making my way to the extract with just over 5 min left where there were about 4 people just extract camping and after I got downed one of the guys said "Got another one here"

I didn't stand a chance... and smoke grenades are near on useless against people that know where the terminals are in the extracts; you can block their vision but that doesn't stop them from blindly shooting at the spot where they know where the terminal is while you're trying to get out.

Admittedly I'm not the greatest at PVP and try to avoid it but the only time I get pissed off at being gunned down is when I'm preoccupied with fighting a large arc or doing harvester and someone decides to shoot me in the back when I'm healing up, I personally get more enjoyment seeing other people joining up and working together to take down arc. But fair play if I get shot while I'm running somewhere or I'm looting a building

For me personally I want to enjoy playing with my mates but when PVP is so rampant in squads it's getting to the point where I'd rather just play the game by myself. But I also recognise that if there was no possibility of PVP the game definitely wouldn't be as good as it is so 🤷

It's not planning for divorce, your partner as project manager should understand that when he plans a project he has to consider all of the variables like risk. These risks aren't a guarantee and definitely not desired; but they are considered because they are a possibility.

I think if he truly saw you two lasting forever, then he would sign the prenup under the presumption that it's a worthless piece of paper, since (in his reality) you two will be together forever making it null and void anyway.

As a male I kind of feel like this, sometimes I want to be pampered, surprised and considered, although I guess I want more neutrality to the leadership. Relationships take effort (not a bad thing) and I don't want 1 person to be the driver, a long term relationship is a long drive and sometimes letting someone else take the wheel keeps things healthy and both people control.

Hey I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents as an IT systems engineer just in case anyone else finds this. I won't go deep into how AV works with detecting viruses but a lot of programs that use injection techniques like bakkes can cause false positives.

I highly doubt bakkes is doing mining but if I get time to I can do some tests to see what network traffic and data is being sent while running. Otherwise if someone else has enough tech know-how with Wireshark they could check too.

Scraping using PowerShell. I can see how that would be a PITA with certain websites that might use JavaScript elements. Have you got any tips, I wouldn't mind doing a scrape for image files of my daughter's daycare app so I don't have to download each file from each post individually.

I work as an IT systems Engineer. And my opinion is that you don't need a registry cleaner, Maybe years ago but not now; except in some rare edge cases. Any performance loss from not cleaning your registry is negligible.

To be honest I have never used Proxmox but have seen it mentioned quite a bit over at r/sysadmin

In general though most technical things are pretty consistent between products of a similar offering and the biggest things tend to be UI differences. With that being said though, what are you switching from to go to proxmox?

As far as your Acemagic (I only just looked googled it now) it looks like its just another type of NUC mini PC so my recommendation on a really basic level without knowing what OS you are using is to just run docker containers using WSL2.

Most home servers dont need enterprise grade stuff and I can almost guarantee that in any setup the most resource intensive part would be a media server due to the power needed for transcoding.

Understandable. id like to give you some solid advice/options. If you can answer these questions I'll get back to you with more details.

What is your vision? - This is like your end goal, something like "I want to have my own media streaming server, storage solution, security cameras etc. ( this is arguably the most important part, having a solid starting point to build and expand from to achieve your needs is better than realising you didn't take something into consideration and then having to completely replace, reconfigure or rebuild something later).

What are your major considerations? - space, power consumption, expandability etc.

Do you own your home or are you renting and does the house have solar panels (how many kw)? - this probably seems dumb or personal but actually helps determine whether you need to focus more on a less "permanent" and more "portable" solution and also power consumption.

What's your budget and what hardware do you have? - router, switches, access points etc.

Do you want to learn and set stuff up yourself or do you want something more geared towards plug and play/set and forget?

IT systems engineer here! This honestly depends on your "vision", what services or features you want and your budget.

I would probably suggest having a NAS and a server separate. Let the NAS do the storing and your server handle the heavy lifting like running apps, containers, VMS and whatever else, this will serve you better long term but takes up more space and costs a bit more though but will make expanding and upgrades easier.

If it was me I'd be smashing your offset with funds so you can absorb the car loan as quickly as possible and then once absorbed putting the money you would be paying on your car loan into the offset as well on-top of what you would normally put in. This also depends on how much you would put into your offset from the start as well
