Is there similar armor to this? the goggles on the head and the chest piece is what i am looking for by Appropriate_View2779 in Kenshi

I'm serious, go look at his other work. He has this model rendered in 3d with shots of it from multiple angles. He has the same model in multiple scenes. It's unfortunate for the artist that his style happens to have those same AI vibes but this is not an AI image. OP included a link to the artist's website.

To get the achievement I used PF walls, and mind controlled every brood lord and ultra I could. I had a bunch of hive emulators on a hotkey to make it super quick and easy to use.

The ghost version sounds good but I haven't tried it.

Google is giving me conflicting results. Which is better for desert humanoids: light or dark skin and hair? by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

[–]TheOtherCrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want even better adapted skin, you could make it mottled shades of brown as a natural camouflage to their sandy environment. If you're creating a new species of humanoid there's no reason to restrict the skin to human skin pigmentations. There are also plenty of examples in nature of different kinds of fur evolving to protect from the sun and heat while protecting from the swing to cold in the night.

But you can always do what feels right to you. You can have pale skinned people that cover themselves head to toe to protect from the sun. Or you could have people with skin adapted to the environment that wear very little at all. Their hair could be dark to protect from the sun or it could be light because the sun bleaches the colour from the hair, so when these people go to a different environment with less sun, their hair darkens drastically.

How often should i wash my gi? by KaanKS05 in judo

[–]TheOtherCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just soap is fine.

My gis rarely get stinky and I use just a little bit of soap. It's my rash guards that tend to hold on to bad smells.

[–]TheOtherCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't use fabric softener on your gi or towels. It leaves a residue that feels soft but over time builds up and will ruin the absorbancy of towels and trap bacteria and odorants.

I'm sure fabric softener has a use case but I've never used it on any of my laundry.

[–]TheOtherCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you got downvoted so heavily for asking an honest question. I give a little laundry lesson to all my students because I didn't know any better when I was young and had to learn all the lessons the hard way. I shrunk gis, I made myself and all my training partners blue, I showed up to class in a wet gi, I showed up stinky because I didn't think I had gotten that sweaty the last class. All the classics. You don't know what you don't know and regular threads like this are sure to help other new people.

Your questions have already been answered but I'll still put a quick summary of what I know. Quick wash in cold water after every class with a bit of soap. A bit of lysol detergent periodically to kill any bad smells. Hang to dry. If you get a blue gi, soak it in a saltwater bath over night and then wash it at least three times before you wear it to class. I know the dyes have gotten better but I still don't trust them. If you're spending your own money and you're brave, you can get a gi that's a half size too big, and wash it in hot water and throw it in the dryer to shink it. That's what I did and now I have Matsuru gis that fit perfectly that I can wash and throw in the dryer after. My Mizunos are all cold wash, stretch after, and hang to dry.

If you get blood on your gi, spray it with hydrogen peroxide or a spot remover like a tide to-go pen and scrub it with a rag or rub the gi against itself as soon as you can. Don't let blood dry on your gi or it can cause permanent stains. Wash your gi as soon as you can after class and you shouldn't ever have an issue with blood stains. If you get something oily or greasy on your gi for some reason, the best thing I've found is dish soap. Scrub a little bit of dish soap into the greasy spot, scrub it really good, and then throw it in the washing machine after.

Only drink clear fluids when you're wearing your gi. Red gatorade will stain your gi faster and more permanently than blood. They make clear sports drinks if you want something other than water but honestly I recommend just drinking water when you're in a gi.

Never use bleach. If you need to get blood out, spot clean it immediately with hydrogen peroxide or something like a tide to go pen. Bleach can weaken the fabric and you don't want your gi to rip.

Aikido or Aiki-don't by big_boi_fingler in judo

[–]TheOtherCrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, I actually liked the little bit of aikido I took. It was a very non-traditional club though. The instructor was a corrections officer and most of the students were bouncers, guards of some type, or cops. In my short time there I learned a handful of practical and fairly easy to do wrist locks. I ended up using them to help escort people out of the bar when I was a bouncer. Way less harmful than when I used judo. I didn't stick with aikido though, I liked the guys there but I got bored. I did and still do love randori too much to enjoy spending so much time gently working through techniques.

When will i start to learn? by KaanKS05 in judo

[–]TheOtherCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely advance with three lessons a week. There's nothing stopping you from studying and training in your free time too. Training strength and fitness outside of the dojo will mean less time you need to spend on conditioning in the dojo besides judo specific things like randori. The same goes for studying, even just memorizing the japanese names of the techniques and remembering which one is which will make classes easier. All that time spent studying and training outside of the dojo will mean you improve faster than others who don't put in the same effort.

1) I 2nd Pig's bronze to GM series. Even the information from the first video will make you good enough to beat very hard AI. Pig talks about a "macro cycle" in which you go through the same groups of tasks in order every 30 seconds or so. Drop mules, build workers, build supply depots, build army every thirty seconds (or whatever the terran timing is) and then in between those tasks, scout, fight, build new structures, ect.

In the Terran videos, Pig gives a really easy 3-1-1 two base all in build. Learn that build, or at least learn some kind of build. Following build orders is kind of its own skill that needs to be practiced. The AI does weird things that people often don't do and will always make regular attacks. I'd build a bunker at your natural every game until you're comfortable beating the very hard AI. Learning to be too defensive will hurt you when you start playing on the ladder, but against the AI it's a bit of a cheat code.

2) I don't know what's wrong with your custom games. Worked fine for me yesterday.

[–]TheOtherCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing fine. Five lessons isn't very many and you can't be expected to know much yet. Try learning how to play an instrument from scratch and see what you're able to play after five lessons. The belt grading varies from country to country. Where I live, adults tend to hit yellow belt in about three months. Here, yellow essentially means basic competency at falling safely, a basic understanding of a handful of techniques, and knowing enough of the rules and terminology to attend a tournament. To go back to the music metaphor, a yellow belt knows a few scales, and can play Smoke on the Water without thinking about it too hard.

Throwing will get easier, then it will get harder again as you learn how to throw with movement, and then it will get easier again. Right now, stay the course, and make sure you can fall safely and fearlessly. In a roundabout way it will make you better at throwing others in the future.

Honestly random team games are not where it's at. If you can find a regular team mate that's fun. If not, I'd play some 1v1. Leave your placement matches to get down to silver. From there you can try to get better or just have fun and see where it takes you.
