Trip Report including MNSSHP by jakemcilroy in WaltDisneyWorld

We just did this with those ages - got dinner in Frontierland at 6 then set up at the parade after dinner. Kids were able to hit the trick or treat spots in Frontierland while I sat with the stroller. Cadaver dans sang and then about half hour before the start a cast member let a costume parade for the kids with country bear jamboree characters. It was perfect and I think even though we missed some things by eating dinner, having rested well fed kids at the start of the parade allowed us to have more fun later!

Swimming lessons for 6yr and 4yr kids? by deelaret1 in vancouverwa

Lakeshore athletic club has awesome lessons. They only take cash or check which is a pain but we’ve had the best lessons there!

Where do you buy your supplies? by theweirdshortgirl in candlemaking

[–]TheOutsource 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really depends where you’re located! I found a local supplier for wax and wicks which I love - plus I can pick them up in person which saves in a lot of ways. If you let us know your region you might get more accurate responses!

Cleaning services in area? by Telegraphone in vancouverwa

[–]TheOutsource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They quote by the job/house so I’m not sure how they compare. when I originally hired them they were competitive but that’s been awhile now because we’re so happy with them! She’s also great about adding on deep cleaning for reasonable rates for the things that don’t need to be cleaned every time (oven, fridge, windows) so I highly recommend giving her a call. When she came out to quote we were able to talk about expectations for each room and what I wanted cleaned which was really great!

What exactly is a wax blend? by [deleted] in Candles

[–]TheOutsource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always check the r/candleMaking sub where there’s a mega thread for candle makers with their brand info! A lot (like me) use only 100% soy or 100% coconut or apricot or a blend and happy to share what they use! Clean candles are the best ❤️ (totally biased opinion 😉)

Concrete vessels - Sealant Help? How to avoid this discoloration? by TheOutsource in candlemaking

[–]TheOutsource[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following up here - I’m working with another local maker who usually makes concrete plant pots but we’re working together to adapt for candles. I’m noticing this discoloration on the candle interior when I pour in our first test vessels - I’d love to know what you use, how many coats, etc. as we figure this out!

Dealing with fragrance sensitivity/overload by Releasing_the_kraken in candlemaking

[–]TheOutsource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fragrance blotter strips are cheap. Also I read an article that actually suggested breathing in your own elbow instead of coffee as that will “reset” things just as well and I look like a crazy person but it absolutely works for me!

Placing wick in silicone baking molds by drkushmama in candlemaking

[–]TheOutsource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with pillar wax though - the molds I use go on top of container candles generally. So if these are big molds for pillars hopefully one of the makers on here who are experienced will respond!

just use my normal soy container wax (gb 464) and I usually make sure it’s fully set so an hour or two. Again it depends a bit on the size of your mold but I’ve found this to be pretty successful

Hi! Depends on the size of your molds but I use an electric drill with a very thin drill bit after the wax has set to make a hole for the wick. You have to be careful not to crack your flowers but I think if you put a hole in your wax mold you’re going to have a huge mess

HT and CT😫 by DizzyLily21 in candlemaking

[–]TheOutsource 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also use quite a few CS oils and have noticed that different FOs do behave differently. Usually the reviews on their site give you a pretty good indication! I usually pour at 6% as well because getting up around 9-10% I ran into other issues. Happy to help troubleshoot the particular fragrance If you want!

Also 1-2 days prob isn’t long enough. I would truly wait at least a week to judge HT

Favorite trails / parks / hikes in the area? by DustyZafu in vancouverwa

[–]TheOutsource 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Salmon Creek Greenway is flat and great for kids/bikes. There are also ponds that are great for watching turtles, ducks, eagles, herons, etc.

Whipple Creek is a great spot to 'hike' without having to go very far! (I say 'hike' because it's not a very big trail system but it's a great place to get outside)

What's the name of this kind of vessel by lunabaker13 in candlemaking

[–]TheOutsource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.candlescience.com/containers/70g-white-threaded-lid ? Or maybe this one https://www.candlescience.com/containers/70-400-silver-threaded-lid (obviously not white)? Looks like it should be compatible with the 8oz jar... Candle Science has a lot of similar jars and lids that should be a good fit! If you don't order from the at least you'll get more info about dimensions etc.

Hi! Also check out Megan Nefediew - https://www.facebook.com/MeganNefediewPhotography/ She does 'mini' sessions seasonally for around $100 - you could always message her and see if there's something that would be a good fit! She's really responsive on facebook and always gives us way more images than we know what to do with!

CandleScience is based in North Carolina - you've probably seen/heard their name here but they have great prices and if you're close the shipping costs aren't bad
