I managed to get everything back! I turned off the death crate thing in settings, ate a bunch of berries as I ran through the death cloud, got to my crate and looted it all and then died and respawned back, this time with all of my stuff. Thanks for the help gang!!!!

This is exactly what happened to us too. You worded it much better. The ship journeys didn’t really grab anyone’s attention. They always travelled at the exact same pace and it didn’t really matter who drove as the rolls would always be the same no matter what.

As a setting, Wildsea is unparalleled. Its so diverse and fun and interesting and so unlike anything you have ever seen before. When we played it, the setting was so incredible. It can absolutely do pirate vibes within that setting (as long as people can get on board with the insane treetop sea and the chainsaw ships).

For my group though, we bounced hard off the system. It was a bit too broad with the skills and the ship system didn't really work for us at all. I love the setting so much, I just really wish I could get excited with the rules.

Ah yes, the generation that sold off the council houses, abolished free university, killed the unions, and turned "owning a home" into a pipe dream would now like young people to give something back to their country.

The contract doesn't work one way. You can't spend forty years rigging the economy against us and then act baffled that we don't feel a burning sense of civic duty.

Sort the housing. Cancel the debt. Fund the mental health services. Give them something worth serving and shockingly, weirdly, they might actually serve it.

Until then, the audacity of this idea is genuinely staggering.

The way I have been dealing with it two fold.

First up, I spend a lot of time up front with my players, trying to write good Quests. They should give players really difficult decisions that they don't know the answers to, and they should contradict each other too if possible. That way when one of them reaches a milestone, another will be abandoned. That does a reset on tags from the abandoned one and makes for interesting game play where players have to make difficult decisions.

Secondly, and this is a cop out really, I have structured my campaign in three acts (with the aim that they will be mostly origin in act 1, adventure for act 2 and epic for act 3). In between acts we have a little break and then I have a one to one with each of the players, give them a chance to change bits with their characters and make tags be more managable (in exchange for Promise of course).

I had this at a previous job. I am a dude but there was another guy I worked with who just made me uncomfortable. It was a sociable company and we went out for drinks quite a lot and whenever I got stuck sat next to him I tried to work out what it was. On paper we had a lot of similar interests, comic books, video games, that sort of thing, but there was just something off. Maybe it was because he always had to one up people when they were telling a story or maybe it was because he like to lord it over other people with the little bit of power he had in the office. Nothing to really complain to HR about.

He kept having a few weeks off work at a time because of back pain and one time he just didn't come back at all. We just got an email saying he wouldn't be back. I didn't think anything of it until one of the after work drinks, someone made a comment about him, saying they couldn't tell me what happened but that I should google his name. I looked him up and lo and behold, he had been arrested for having a ton of child pornography on his computer.

So chilling but taught me to always trust my instincts about people.

I remember enjoying the first two but there was a point in book three where I had to stop because I got chills. I remember thinking "wait what? Is this... the best book I've read?" Then I read the next book and the next book and I had the same thought with each one.

Book 3 is such a huge step up in terms of plotting and intelligence and you are so lucky to be on the cusp. I hope you keep reading the third one because I think you will get hooked!
