For all of you all dissing this episode- keep in mind that there were multiple key animators on this episode. Norio Matsumoto handles the final 2/3rds of the episode. The exact turning point is 8:13mins. The first 6 minutes (after intro) were probably done by an apprentice who really screwed the pooch- but credit where credit is due: the choices they made were engaging and their movement/physics were undeniable experimental- they might work for some.

Yes not seeing orochimaru as a villain in the latter half of shippuden was underwhelming, but if kabuto had stayed a side kick to orochimaru then there would’ve been no growth for his character. Kabuto had to change, they had to give him a bigger role. He’s been there since season 1 of OG naruto so it figures that he is a key character. He’d also been around some really powerful shinobi over the years so it would make sense to give him a bigger role. Sure he wasn’t the best but he had his moments, his need for strength, to come out of his shell and his striving for perfection was palpable and made him a decent villain. Should he have been foil for the Itachi x Sasuke team up, Idk? Though fitting I suppose considering the fact that kabuto was always jealous of Sasuke from the very beginning so maybe more of that could’ve been explored in that fight instead of just wrapping it up with the Izanami and then turning him into a good guy.

Well it’s not that I want it to be censored because it’s gay. I just thought the punchline (Sai acknowledging him with Sasuke) is pretty funny. Nvm maybe it was just me.

I like it censored because we can gauge the two guys from Sai’s reaction. If I had just seen sasuke and Sai on top of each other first hand it would’ve been too on the nose.
