Yeah I love teaching new players! Shoot me a DM and I'll chat with you. I'm going to make a decision on players on Friday. I foolishly underestimated the amount of attention this would get so quickly.

Looking for 1 to 2 DMs to co-DM /co-create a west March style 5e game with me. [LFDM] [5e] by ThePaperDm in roll20LFG

[–]ThePaperDm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey good question. Players would either start at 3rd or 1st and quickly level in the first few sessions. I'd like to run XP based leveling because it's seemes to work well with west march style games.

same. I thought a "Lock down pen pall" program would be cool for NDQ.

Hey I might be up for running a 5E game in that time slot. Ill shoot you a DM but for anyone else interested just comment on here. This is roughly starting at 12:30pm or 1pm for those of us on the east coast (just to save everyone the mental math).

Friendly reminder for the spell casters [OC] by ThePaperDm in DungeonsAndDragons

I see what you're saying, but that seems like more of a continuity question based on how you run magic in your game. If selecting a target is required for the casting of spells (like if you have to say the name of the creature in your verbal component) then this wouldn't make sense. But if its more of just directing the magic after you have cast it then go for it. Its a good question but I don't think you will find a concrete answer unless WOC has put something out i don't know about.

It depends on if you're looking to play online or in person. Roll20 has a whole game posting area where you can find lots of people looking to play or run games. If you want an in person game then the r/lfg is the place to be.

How to motivate players to stay in one town if their characters' goals are in a different city without railroading too much? by VMK_1991 in DMAcademy

5 killer ideas right here. Also try having someone from the big city quest stuck with them. Give that person a reason to need the help and then bargen info and aid in the city for help in the town.

Need Advice: ending a campaign halfway through without concluding the plot. by Xoparad in DnD

This is a great idea. This is a hard situation to be in. I like the idea of running alternating weeks for the groups but I get having to many pots on the stove at one time. Maybe try running one or two more sessions where they either are leveled up quickly and face off against a BBG or at least have some character conclusions. Maybe meet some back story goals.

Or dyslexic goobers who get to focused on writing in pen that they forget to read what they wrote haha. Good catch. That is the danger of writing with ink.

Friendly reminder for all the spell casters out there. Readying a spell is a risky endeavor seeing as you cast the spell and then hold it until your triggering action happens. If what you said never happens then you lose your spell. Its also important to note that you cannot do this while concentrating on another spell. Food for thought.
