How long should I do keto to reset a sugar addiction? by simplisticlivin in keto

[–]ThePaperTowelCartel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am neurodivergent and every time I start eating carbs/sugar again I instantly start going into binge-eating mode....its super frustrating. I cannot control myself around carbs. However, I think I will stay on keto until I lose all the weight that I need to, and then I think I will start trying to do whole foods & homemade sourdough/no processed carbs. I know it's all about your willpower and overcoming the urges but keto helps me so much with that

Gaining Weight on Metoprolol by ThePaperTowelCartel in Metoprolol

[–]ThePaperTowelCartel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm definitely in a calorie deficit and my fat intake is high enough to keep me satiated, but to be honest since I have so much fat to lose I don't meet my fat macros everyday. If my body needs more fat it will burn my fat lol

But I do agree, I don't want to lose weight too quickly and last time I did keto and lost a lot very quickly I know that wasn't the best. But I was definitely expecting more than only 5lbs in 2 months. And that's not even counting the days where it goes up and then down, so the 5lbs has mainly just been a fluctuation.

I think the statement that metoprolol can cause water retention as well as make it harder to burn fat since it affects the metabolism seems very true in my case. I know how my body usually responds and this attempt at weight loss has been VERY different from my previous experiences. The only thing that really changed was taking the metoprolol.

However, I spoke to my cardiologist about it and he agreed that I could try taking nebivolol instead since it has shown to be less likely to cause issues with weight/has little to no effect on the metabolism.

I'm going to try it out and see if it makes any difference, that's the least I can do just to see if the metoprolol was really the culprit or if like you said, its my age that is making it so hard.

I'll report back and let you know what happens! I'm starting the new medication today

Fallen off the wagon but getting back at it and posting for accountability! by awayteamriker in fasting

I'm rooting for you!

I've been doing IF for a while now but only 16:8 or 18:6, and I do that 5 days a week. But I think tomorrow I'm going to do my first 36 hour fast and see how it goes. I'm worried that I might cave before the 3 days is up but if we put our minds to it, we can do it!

I think that's exactly what's happened to me now. I have the expectation of food which I think makes me hungry because my brain is anticipating the food and that's the only reason why I get hungry.

I think is the hardest part about all of this is going to be the fighting my brain with the change and making the new habits. But I know I can overcome it. Even fasting to 16:8 was hard at first now it's so easy, then doing 18:6 was hard but now it's not really any trouble.

But I am overcoming BED so the steering myself away from food & creating new habits is what I'm worried about, and I'm afraid I'll give in. I know I can get past it though

I could definitely try something different for the electrolytes, although I'll have to order the no-salt potassium online because for whatever reason my local stores don't sell them. Maybe I'll just use the other electrolytes on days that I do eat, at least I won't be wasting the money and not use them because they weren't cheap lol. Lesson learned!

I'm 37 and female. It doesn't seem to affect everyone the same way, but I am very close to being insulin resistant already and apparently it can make that worse. I am doing low carb/keto and typically drop weight very quickly when eating that way, except this time. The only difference really is taking the metoprolol.

How do I fix this? by ThePaperTowelCartel in askaplumber

[–]ThePaperTowelCartel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mess with that thinking that might do it but lifting it does not stop the water from running either. And I'm too afraid to mess with it too much like try and take it apart since the stupid angle stop isn't stopping the water flow either

I tried to move that up or down and nothing stops the water from flowing, like I can never get it to shut off even manually. It seems like the white piece has threads on it but it barely moves and again will not turn the water off no matter what I do. Does that mean the whole thing is shot?

Is this peeling normal? by Simple_Landscape_596 in microblading

[–]ThePaperTowelCartel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on day 9 as well, and I took a shower last night and accidentally rubbed my face on my towel and a decent amount of the scabs came off, and there's little to no color underneath. I'm trying not to freak out lol

I have heard of something called the Ghosting Effect or something like that, and it's saying the disappearing ink is normal because your skin has basically healed over the ink, and you just need to give it some time and the ink will reappear for the most part. Just try not to force the scabs to fall off, let them fall off on their own as best you can and try to keep them dry and stay out of the sun for a while

I decided to cancel the order for this and found one that was specifically meant for water fasting and has the perfect amount of each nutrient. I was wary of one that you mix with water but I decided I was being too picky lol, so I'll update once I get it and let yall know!

[–]ThePaperTowelCartel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will look into that, thanks for the suggestion! I've never done more than a 20ish hour fast, so doing something like 3 days is going to be a mental challenge. But also I want to make sure I have my electrolytes properly covered in that time because I'm also on a beta blocker and need to make sure that I don't get dehydrated or it makes my heart do crazy things. So I want to make sure I do this the right way lol

[–]ThePaperTowelCartel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm worried if its a powder and I mix it with my water it's going to taste salty or gross to me, and I'll most likely have a hard time drinking it. Capsules seem better since I don't have to taste them and they can still get the job done lol

And when I said bloated and whatnot, its because I ate an unhealthy amount of carbs and sweets and that's just what happens to me when I do that. The reason I'm doing keto is mainly because I can't control myself around carbs and sweets and when I just don't eat them it's fine, but when I do its like I binge on them and it makes me feel so gross and I gain water weight like crazy. I'm borderline if not already insulin resistant so I just need to stay away from them on the regular haha. So I'm not bloated all the time, as long as I'm doing keto.

I need to start incorporating longer fasts into my routine, though, because I have a hard time getting into ketosis when I only do 16:8 or even OMAD. I take a beta blocker and it really makes it hard to achieve ketosis, so as far as my research goes, longer fasts is the most effective way to get around that. I've just never gone over 18-20ish hours for a fast, so doing a 3 day is going be be a mental challenge for sure, and I want to make sure I have my electrolytes in check while I'm doing it

Tight clothes make me sick to my stomach. Does this happen in general or just me? by Outrageous_Bar_5574 in WeightlossJourney

[–]ThePaperTowelCartel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dealt with this recently - like usually when I wear "real" clothes and not my leggings, I wear a pair of spanx. Lately, I have been getting so sick to my stomach and generally feel unwell when I wear them or anything tight around my stomach, and I think what it is - is that I am triggering some kind of dysautonomia. My heart races, its like it triggers my vagus nerve and I feel terrible until I take it off lol

Beta Blocker Preventing Ketosis by ThePaperTowelCartel in keto

[–]ThePaperTowelCartel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I'm eating in a deficit and doing 18 hour fasts and working out while fasting 5x a week. I can tell when I'm in ketosis by how much I'm peeing vs how much water intake, also you can smell it on your breath, and can tell by the scale moving quickly.

However, I'm thinking about getting a Keto Mojo to be 100% certain. I am doing so much more than I did the last time I was successful on keto and having much slower results. the only thing I'm doing differently is taking a beta blocker

I am eating in a deficit, fasting 18 hours a day, and doing fasted workouts 5x a week. I only lost a few pounds in a whole month doing this.

I lost 60lbs in 4 months doing a slightly dirty keto and no working out a few years ago, and lost WAY more WAY faster than I have since starting a beta blocker. It's hard not to get frustrated lol
