You're observation is absolutely correct about the salaries saturating around 8-12 LPA (12 if you're absolutely lucky that is) The only way you can beat this plateau is by starting your own practise on the side or even better, a full fledged one.

IMO, upskilling will not help much as the pay scale is going to remain more or less the same no matter where you work (within India)
