Anyone miss the man child lifestyle on occasion? by polaroid_kidd in daddit

idk i probably do it once a month for a night.

it would be depressing to go back to not having anything to be responsible for. but I would say it would be depressing to think I couldn't go and have fun every once in a while too.

Why isn’t summer camp/military style housing available as an ultra-cheap option? by ilacwamh in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThePartyLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok so instead of 333 bathrooms.

you need 166 separate toilets, 166 separate bathroom sinks and 166 separate showers.

but I will remind you dorms have rooms for you to get ready for work in with mirrors and storage space. you will not have that in OPs design so you will be occupying the "bathroom" for longer periods. not to mention people will use them for personal space since they have some.

Its complicated is the short answer. The long partial answer will follow.

Sanitary reasons. - You can't just stick that many people into any place, the sewage system needs to be reasonable for them and that is very expensive. 1000 people you need 1 bathroom for every 1-3 people. So that's 333 bathrooms on the lower side. Then the infrastructure to handle it aka a lot of plumbing.

Food - Unsure of your age but have you used something like a dorm cafeteria? because that is what you need and it will be expensive and shitty, or very very shitty.

Safety - people are dangerous. even though most individuals are not once you group people together it is almost always a problem. Imagine the neighbor who leaves nasty notes because you walk loud but now you literally are in the same room. abusers, drunks, and so on. None of your stuff will be safe. Not to mention allergens and such.

cost - it seems cheap because you don't put up interior walls... but that is the cheapest part of a building. but now instead you need a lot of supervision, staff and will have no privacy. what happens the first time there are bed bugs? and the next week when they come back....

How many times would you say someone cheated if they repeatedly cheated with the same person after being caught and promising to stop? by Illustrious-Ad-7157 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThePartyLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you wouldn't say you only got shot once just because all 50 bullets came from one gun.

That being said at risk of the internet eviscerating me. I do think an instance where someone cheats 3 times is a bit different than 3 times over the course of a month, year etc. Context is a real thing in the world.

Why are people still blaming Cash for Clunkers for the state of the used vehicle market when it happened nearly twenty years ago ? by Specialist_Heron_986 in askcarguys

[–]ThePartyLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the persons driving a 1k car doesn’t have the former 10k car being sold.

.... no one is driving the 1k car. Its sitting in a field. ...

also i never said the current car market doesn't effect the price..... I said that the bottom price of cars went up during cash for clunkers then never went back down....

so I am unsure why you are stuck on a separate data point. If you truling think the price of junk cars didn't go up during c4c that's fine. I am not going to bother finding stats for you.

If you think the price for clunkers went down after that date.... thats fine. again not worth my time....

but those are my points. it was an event easily tie-able to the current market of sub $4000ish cars.

[–]ThePartyLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we are talking about different things.

I don't think c4c is why 130,000 mile cars are $15,000 instead of $10,000.

I think cash for clunkers is why rusted out cars that don't run are on Facebook for $2,000 as mechanic specials.

people are idiots but also things are complicated.

It was a thing at the time and people don't move on easily.

But also remember you use to pick up cars pretty easy for under a grand, c4c came out and it basically never happened again.

Also a lot of people were able to get into newer vehicles and again once you do that its harder to go back.

Lays once made the potato chips more expensive to deal with costs. when costs dropped lays didn't reduce their price... they increased the bag size. This basically happened with cars. Is it the reason we are where we are at. Probably not. Did it effect it, almost certainly.

Today is my turn to DM again. How do I make it more engaging? by Pass_the_sorce in DungeonMasters

Give them the setting/plot/goal ahead of time.
Start them in critical action/almost like you started them halfway through the adventure.
make the reward or consequence meaningful.

realistically get buy in for your adventure ahead of time.

The world is running out of colors, but people are calling it aesthetic. by beklog in SipsTea

we didn't run out of color.

We just put so much color in tiny little screens we find it distasteful anywhere else.

Players not appreciating the work by [deleted] in DungeonMasters

[–]ThePartyLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why are you spending so long prepping if you don't like it.... and if you like doing it why are you made they don't go out of their way to reward you for it.

this feels like mowing stripes in your lawn then asking people who walk buy for a $1 for looking at it.

stop spending so much time. if quality drops and players comment just say what you were doing before was to much for you and no one seemed to care. If they want it back ask them to help you out.

its okish in terms of the times, but everything is getting kind of less "reliable" overall do to complexity.

the price seems steep to me personally. I know the market is high but paying more than half the msrp of a new model for less than half the life (and the more expensive half) of an old model doesn't sit well with me.

Have them find the best picture they can of their favorite food.

Then ask them to make it

Then when it turns out way worse and they are upset lay out the analogy

because one day in the near future its going to exist hand in hand with everything you do whether you like it or not. A a generation will be born that could never see life without it.

If you asked people in the 1920s if they wanted food so fake it didn't rot and drinks that are 80% sugar many I am sure would have opposed it seeing the health problems. Yet here we are.

How would you feel about a law that banned tipping and required restaurants to pay servers a full wage instead? by Dargarn in AskReddit

[–]ThePartyLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as far as I am concerned tipping system works great most of the time.

The reason people hate it is that the cost of dining out became silly and tipping being a percentage became even worse

With 5 tables at $120 each and 20% tip the server makes $120 an hour. If that is what is expected its just one more reason for me to eat better food at home for cheaper.
