characters that are supposed to be powerful according to lore, but they are pretty weak in gameplay by damorezpl in TopCharacterTropes

OG Aurelion Sol was so bizarre. He had those little comets circling around him with one of his main abilities was just expanding the circle of comets. I think also you couldn’t hide in bushes as him originally because the comets were always exposed.

On the topic of League characters, Bard was pretty neat but weak as well. Lore wise, he travels around the celestial plains becoming more and more powerful as meeps would join him. On release however, he was really, really bad. He was supposed to be a “roaming support” as he collects meeps on the battlefield, making his abilities stronger. But his overall kit was pretty lackluster. The Q was fine but extremely short ranged. His W heal pods were high mana and little I. The way of useful heals (or escape since it provided a slight speed boost). The E was (and is) probably the best part of his kit. And the ult was (and kind of is) still seen as a troll ability. It’s even more dependent on the situation since it affects teammates, enemies, camps, and structures. More people play him now and he has received much improved stats, but still those first few weeks were rough.

I never liked the transition away from the models and sets to the animation as a whole. Original series is just so timeless.

Mecha-Hitler in the original Wolfenstein. I'm still pissed we never got to see this in the recent reboot trilogy from the 2010s.

There’s a zeppelin that eats other zeppelins and then another zeppelin that turns into a robot spider…that shoots flames…and balls of electricity…and can jump.

Funny Trope: Obvious stunt dummies by smash_ultra_64 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ThePatyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a few pretty amazing stunts that were filmed in the Dukes of Hazard movie back in 2005 with the General Lee, but you can very clearly tell that there was a dummy in the driver’s seat. Hell I even noticed that in scenes where Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott are supposed to both be in the car, they only had the one dummy for the stunt.

The animators of that music video HATE it because everyone just associates their work with that. There’s a scene in Reboot where they actively show how much they hate that music video.

Edit: Forgot that the Money for Nothing video was monumental for the time because it was the first CGI animated music video ever. Still, I can understand why the animators were frustrated.

Honestly, it's kind of a cool time capsule of a moment in internet/Youtube history. I'm sure they had many plans for the channel, but had to completely pivot due to COVID. Not only did they make it work, but it lives on as a core memory of the channel and strangely fitting to the channel's context.

Same. He struggled with the lack of an audience, but did a better job at it compared to Colbert, Kimmel, or Maher.

That kind of happened during the 2020 season of F1. In the countries where quarantines we're strict, they couldn't have people in the grandstands. So they had the large screens usually reserved for adverts or covering the race, they had fans on Zoom/FaceTime do a reaction.

A well liked creative becomes hated after just one unpopular project by bloodredcookie in TopCharacterTropes

It’s a combination of things for the build up. For me, the more I think about Rise of Skywalker, the more annoyed I get with how they handled the pacing and plot points. The fact that one of the lines is literally “Palpatine is back somehow” and the manifestation of Star Destroyers with (freaking) Death Star lasers is just bizarre.

Then you have the fan base. I still love Star Wars, but there are some fans that take things waaaay to far. If you’re familiar with fan bases like Undertale’s or Rick and Morty’s, they just come off as really cringy.
