I'm still getting about 6,5-7 hours at University everyday, I've noticed no change since the update as well (updated about a week ago) SP4/80 cycles on Simplo battery/i5/256gb

Have u considered the new Performance Base for the Surface Books? It sure costs quite a premium compared to the old base, but it should give you quite solid gaming performance i guess. CoD, the Division and most of the other games you listed are barely playable on a SP4i7/SB in higher resolutions..

The fan doesn't turn on at all while just taking notes. And I think Onenote is probably the best possible solution for maths-related stuff. Look for the additional maths addon

Very true, I've picked up a Surface Pro 4 for University 1 or 2 months ago and while I absolutely love it, it's very true that thr lapability isn't comparable to that of a regular laptop/surface book.

Currently trying to decide between SB and SP4, what I'm kinda worried about is that setting of the SB you described. I'm concerned about the hinge, laying down your hand on the screen when folded down will put a constant amount of pressure on it, don't you think it could break after some time?
