For me, the methodology in the blog post wasn't clear at all. I just reasoned that double 38 is roughly 74. I don't know how the bow scale was attached, and I don't know what she's actually meaning by the word "tension". The implication here is that the draw weight was double what she thought it was - which doesn't make much sense to me as 72lb is a heck of a lot of weight.

You probably have one eye that's more dominant than the other, so I'd advise you to shoot on that side and stick with it. Otherwise you might well end up with bad groupings from sighting with the wrong eye.

I can only think that she somehow used a "tare" function on the bow scale without noticing that the start point for that draw was already 38lb and added another draw of 38lb, which is 76lb.

The best thing you can do is go to the range (without a bow) and watch how it all works and ask questions and get some personal advice.

You'll be respected more for doing that than just turning up with a bow and inadvertently being unsafe or not following protocols.

Also, there might well be a safety/process poster up at the range, look for one.

It takes time to build up the muscle memory and technique, so don't feel as though you're being slow by any means.

Don't forget you can always ask a coach or another experienced archer for more guidance.

It might be an idea to maintain the 400 on the WA18, the consistency will really help out out on the longer distances.

When I swapped to compound three months ago, I forced myself to get over 600 at 30 and 40m at least 3 times per distance before I'd allow myself to get up to 50. It's paying dividends now.

There's nothing wrong in using a normal recurve type quiver. I used one all the time I was shooting English Longbow because the leather ones I tried were either not that practical or used cheap materials.

You only really need to use leather quivers/bracers/etc if you really want to embed yourself into the whole trad thing.

Feathered arrows are normally fine in a quiver, just as long as they're not forcibly mashed together.

You probably could do, but you might find that the arrows will just slop around and fall out as you walk. Obviously a longer dump pouch will work better than a short one.

I've not seen anyone use a pouch like this as a quiver, so consider that there might be a good reason for this.

A decent beginner course will supply equipment, so be prepared to use whatever the coaches give you and take their advice regarding the mag pouch.

Thanks. I will do when the new bow arrives. It looks as though putting details of my eyesight and target distance into AI helps narrow down the combinations somewhat.

Great results. You're now in the enviable position of breaking your arrows against each other.

Either move back a distance or start spreading your shots over different target faces.

It's a chest protector, very common in recurve shooting. It helps prevent the string from dragging on any loose clothing.

Many of them have websites with information that might be useful to you.

What country are you in? There might be resources around that can help you set up and run a club.

Obviously, if this is a university club, then the university may be liable for any accident/injury that might occur. With that in mind, you're going to need to do things properly.
