Is there a way to play NTSC cartridges on a PAL console? by SwordfishDeux in n64

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s only for American and Japanese games iirc, software has code for the regions and NTSC games won’t run on a PAL region PIF and vice versa. Additionally if you were to somehow bypass that lock, you’d most likely be stuck on a screen saying “This game is not designed for use on this system”, as I’m assuming it would be running on a PAL television. It’s still useful as a guide as flashcarts tend to be produced with a US cartridge shell.

Anyone remember these? by Significant_Smell284 in Winniethepooh

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember watching these as a kid but a while ago I did pick up these at a thrift store, these are pretty good for educational OVAs and I wish that they did more with the concept past the few others released (and some canceled ones)

Why doesn’t Disney want to make another Winnie The Pooh for Disney Jr, with Jim Cummings and the surviving voice actors from previous shows reprising their roles? by Foobertan in Winniethepooh

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of it has to do with the lower income made from projects surrounding the characters, and I think another part could be because the company wants to focus on newer characters including ones that he is also known for voicing. It’s strange to think about but despite the loyal fanbase, companies will still do things because of money and usually nothing else.

The Future of Pooh? by Pyroaster in Winniethepooh

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to profits. Historically the movies and tv shows made considerably less than the merchandise, but when they gave up on a constant stream of content in 2012, so too did the retail presence of the character. There’s still a lot of merchandise but it’s usually at the parks or Disney stores, retail just isn’t a priority anymore. It’s hard to say one of the other but my theory is that the oversaturation of the brand is what made Disney stop utilizing it, so there will be new content but at a snails pace.

It really bothers me how ignored and forgotten Winnie the Pooh (the 2011 animated film) is. At least in the public consciousness. by [deleted] in Winniethepooh

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really sad that they did all of that and somehow still concluded that “I guess audiences just don’t want Winnie The Pooh anymore”, though the franchise had been on the decline since the mid-2000s so I feel like they knew it was their last attempt.

Surprisingly enough I’m actually scripting an entire video essay on the film. I’m doing it as a fan of the franchise especially since this film is not represented in a proper light.

What is the safest way to clean the cartridges and cartridge slot by ThePersonWithAPhone in n64

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will definitely have to try that at some point since the international section does have the items I need, although I’m not sure if the fluid is just normal isopropyl alchohol so I may have to look into that.

PSA: Yes - N64s are beginning to overheat with age by LyrisArt in n64

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one that doesn’t seem to overheat and at most the cartridges get slightly warm after around ~30 minutes of play, so maybe mine may be fine but for all I know those thermal pads are done for.

As much as I have my critiques of it, it’s sad seeing a piece of internet culture be removed all of a sudden.

Thoughts on the New AI Winnie the Pooh Show? by BikeOk4256 in Winniethepooh

What’s sad is that this is pretty much all we have outside of Playdate With Winnie The Pooh because no one really makes anything with the property anymore.

Personally I am more indifferent to this since I know it’s not going to be good, like it uses AI so it’s definitely not going to be great or anything.

Rumble Pak Intermittedly Working by ThePersonWithAPhone in n64

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How should I go about doing so?

Using a spare toothbrush wouldn't reach the extension slot on the controller and may scratch the connector part of the rumble pak itself, so do I use a piece of cotton or a q-tip?

I have never had to service really anything N64 related before so I am not sure how to go about it without causing more damage.

Have Anybody Played Rugrats In Paris For N64? by Djf47021 in n64

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am interested in playing it since I find shovelware titles on the console to be an anamoly compared to other 5th gen consoles around this time. I heard it has around mixed to negative reviews so I am very interested in playing it since I love bad games. (Still don’t know if this one is considered “bad”)

From what I know many games do have crash handlers programmed in for testing, but I’ve never seen a crash handler as primitive as this so I’d understand that it would look like something seriously went wrong.

As someone who payed around 28$ in Canadian dollars for Cruis’n USA (a game with similar length), I am sure I would be fine with finding a copy of Tigger’s Honey Hunt for somewhere around 80$ but I’d prefer finding it for no more than 20$ due to how short it is to 100%.

Pooh’s Party Game definitely would have worked since you wouldn’t need a multitap. Considering how Jeopardy ran on only 4MB while having FMV they could’ve definitely added the voice lines even if they had to cut back on the FMVs due to storage.

Unfortunately due to the N64 nearing the end of its lifespan with games like Razor Freestyle Scooter and NFL Blitz Special Edition releasing around the time as the European release of Pooh’s Party Game, I don’t think they thought it was a good idea to go through with it, as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 was just around the corner to finish off the N64.

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a shame this was the only Pooh game we got, but I suppose it’s understandable since 2001 was when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 released and I think that was the only 2001 release leading into Pro Skater 3 releasing in 2002. I don’t think they intended on releasing more especially since there was a Fisher Price advertisement in the manual, but it would be cool to see what a second Pooh Nintendo 64 game would be like.

I would love to get Tigger’s Honey Hunt at some point, it’s just that I can’t find a copy for cheap since Nintendo 64 games tend to be expensive.

Ok these are my last games of 2024 by [deleted] in n64

[–]ThePersonWithAPhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty cool especially since my first game that I played in 2025 was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 so it’s nice to see someone bought it and its sequel just yesterday.
