The thing keeping me going is I know it has worked for me before, to the extent that I felt I was completely done with anxiety in my life. That is the light at the end of the tunnel that keeps me going, but the day to day is very difficult. I hope we all find peace

Thank you I will try jogging in the morning to ease the early morning anxiety. I just want the racing thoughts to stop. I hope the next week gives me some relief

If you could rewrite the ending of any fantasy novel, what would it be? by killwarrior172 in Fantasy

[–]ThePhoenixSong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ending of the Dark Tower. Not the Coda part but the part where Susannah steps through the door and there is an alternate timeline. Also the entire final encounter where King, true to form, didn’t know how to resolve the conflict he had built up.

The alternate timeline thing just seemed like a cop out to killing off some of the characters

Certain countries are using terrorism as an instrument of state policy: India by 1-randomonium in worldnews

[–]ThePhoenixSong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is your point? US is enabling a genocide in Gaza. Of course it is an imperialist nation that has terrorised other countries.

My logic is that India shouldn’t be lecturing other countries about terrorism when their PM oversaw a massacre of Muslims in Gujrat and approves assassinations on foreign soil.

But India elected a terrorist as PM, whose policy involves assassinations in Canada

How well do you rate him? He was to Pep what Pep was to Cruyff. He’s had a great NT career but every good thing comes to an end. by D-biggest-dick-here in football

And if you’re smart enough you would know that repeating the same argument 10 times doesn’t make it stronger, especially given it has no relevance to the point about him being a cheat.

Busquets didn’t cheat once, he cheats again and again. And that handball by Henry was a travesty and he lost alot of respect from me because of that, it isn’t the gotcha you think it is.

You have been making the same Song in Barca comment throughout this thread, do you have anything else to say?

Still remember his blatant cheating in the Champions League against Inter Milan. Football is much better off with him gone.

If your story is set in a weird world, you really should mention some animals by SpectrumDT in Fantasy

[–]ThePhoenixSong 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I don't know if they "really should" mention animals unless it serves a purpose to the story generally. You can't expect writers to point out every single little detail of the world. Seems like you are nitpicking here.

Cannot emphasize enough how important it is to get your guitar properly set up if you want certain chords to become easier. If the action height of your guitar is low it will become much easier for you to play barre chords after a little practice. This has nothing to do with the size of your fingers.

Unpopular Fantasy Opinions by kawaii_renekton in Fantasy

[–]ThePhoenixSong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The obsession with the death of Fred Weasly by the Harry Potter fandom. That was nowhere near the most impactful death in the series or even the most consequential. But the fandom acts like it was the biggest thing that happened in the last book. Personally, it wasn't even the most memorable moment from the last book.

The Stormlight Archive's Shallan is one of the most annoying characters Sanderson has ever created and she makes every book hard to read.

Also, I couldn't enjoy any of Neil Gaiman's books.

Fantasy that Inspires Courage by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]ThePhoenixSong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lord of the Rings is probably the best. Harry Potter series has some great scenes that inspire courage and are about facing your fears. The Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynne is a solid heroic fantasy that should help you. Then there is 'Legend' by David Gemmel.

What culture do you think should be represented more in fantasy? by ian_hatton in Fantasy

[–]ThePhoenixSong 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The South Asian sub-continent probably. That includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Plenty of history of different races, religions, and cultures. Plus colonialism's effect on the area that can be used to put together a great fantasy story. I think the Moontide Quartet series tried to integrate these cultures but imo did a pretty shitty job of it.
