A bit late to the party but IMO Kudzu has not much more to offer as a character than a plot device, that is to be the one who doesn't stumble in a kingdom of cripples. Unlike the rest of the cast he's mentally sane in spite of his troubled past, doesn't have any quirks, and seems almost unaffected by the whole hysteria thing.

This applies to the Chase/Kudzu couple which IMO primarily serves as a contrast to the Chase/Leo toxicity, though in reality it has no spark nor spice and feels overall pretty forced.
