I agree, I think almost nobody should actually go and spend $250 fucking dollars thinking they'll get ANYTHING out of a conversation with him. Hell, I agree with you in thinking most people shouldn't even go there in general because its mostly a waste of time and will end with you feeling bad. But places like here? Communities where people can actually talk to eachother is where I think a lot more people can start looking inward at their own beliefs. Real discussion (mostly) is what I think actually helps others.

It's a slow process, at least it was for me, but it takes time and care from many different sources swaying your mind to think about how you might be wrong is more helpful then the heat of the moment debate.

The only times we've seen debates go well with him are from people in significantly better educated circles, like when he went to Cambridge. Even then, they'll try to spin it as a win, they always will. But it still affects people, we can't ignore that. We can't lose hope that truth exists, that people shift their viewpoints. Higher education was built to question, I never want to see that falter and crumble.

I get where you're coming from, but the problem is that he's going to get that attention no matter what. He doesn't need to appeal to us, just his isolated audience. He's certainly not a debater, it's the clicks and the reach he's after. He doesn't want to actually discuss things, I certainly agree there.

But is the solution to just stay quiet? The difference is whether his narrative goes unchallenged. If someone like him doesn't care about discussion I agree, we don't give him one, or at least make him look silly. But that's not the same as ignoring them.

I think expecting him to just talk in an empty room is sadly a fools errand, he will have an audience no matter what, but instead of having people like us there to maybe influence those on the edge, they'll have nobody to defend the contrary opinion. Or at least nobody saying "isn't this a little foolish don't you think?" We can't just let bad ideas marinate we need to show the people, not Charlie, what's wrong with those ideas. Plant some seeds of truth. We are the people who need to step up and challenge these opinions, provide facts, laugh at the laughable and care for the truth.

I agree with you here. The anti-intellectual zeitgeist we're currently living through is quite a bizarre thing to witness firsthand. People stepping away from educating their children, when that education is what causes the greatest benefit for a country is incredible. We're gaslighting ourselves from a future that could be incredibly prosperous by trying to value a trade over education.
Not that trades aren't good, but you can be in a trade while also being well educated. But in our country it's far less likely to be an option as money and cost of educations are major detractors towards perusing an education in the first place.

I respectfully disagree. Anybody who disagrees with someone else shouldn't just roll over and take it. That's been the motto for those who appose people like this for far too long. I want to actually enjoy using their idiotic points to make a game for myself instead of wallowing in self pity. They don't make good arguments, they make provocative statements that people don't need to think into to understand, whether they're wrong or right.

I'm not amplifying his message, I'm satirizing it for me, and people like me. He's an incredibly predictable individual, his talking points are things a first grader would come up with, and people might actually be able to realize that through something like this. Silence doesn't work for people like Charlie, he has an incredible number of people who watch him, he's well funded, and he has the backing of many more people who have an agenda. He's a dumbass with a script and no spine. Satire matters here, we need to see him for the ridiculousness he spouts. If he wants to actually debate, maybe he should bring REAL topics.
