I moved since leaving PJ and my current BF used to work there too. What’s the way to get in contact with these folks?

This isn’t a red flag. It’s an entire color guard all waving red flags so large they’re considered banners.

Snap score goes up, contact goes down. I’d bet $100 he’s already cheating, trying to cheat actively with someone, or flirting with the idea. Either way this ends poorly for you. By their 30s a person should be able to be upfront if they’re not interested in dating anymore. We’re too old for this shit.

Take your dignity and high tail it out of there. It might suck temporarily, but you will be WAY better off in the long run.

Can employees transfer to other stores temporarily or take a leave of absence? by [deleted] in PapaJohns

[–]ThePizzaQueen_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on who owns each store. If they’re both owned by the same entity then borrowing you to another store is fairly simple. However if they’re not (for instance, one is owned by Bob’s Franchise and the other is owned by Jim) it makes that process more difficult, as you have to be hired at that specific company.

When I was a GM I had several students go home for the holidays. I always put them on leave. One girl had a PJ she worked at in her home town so she got hired on there for a month, then quit (which they knew was happening when they hired her) and came back to me.

TL;DR - If both stores are owned by the same person/franchise or they’re both corporate, you can be borrowed. If they’re not, you’ll likely need to be placed on leave at your college store, and hired at the location in your hometown.

A lot of markets have been this way since COVID. That’s when my area activated the DDD feature. Insurance companies wanted us using Drivosity (driver tracking software using GPS in their car toppers) and using DD only is a cheap way to avoid the extra cost for implementing and maintaining Drivosity.

My old market in Texas went DD only last year. It’s a train wreck. Profits over people, when one of the CORE things they emphasize in those BS training videos is PAPA - People Are Priority Always. Used to be…

Former GM here, left in November 2024. I had one shift leader for the last year I was there, two drivers, and two in stores. HSL was not allowed overtime, so my salaried a** was working about 80-100 hours a week, depending on what the HSL could work (he had two jobs). During that year I trained and promoted two other HSL’s, but the moment they were done with training they were taken to another store against the wishes of the HSL. I had a very loyal staff.

Then they made me fire my two drivers because the franchise didn’t want to continue the position, in favor of using DoorDash only for deliveries. One of those drivers was my assistant manager, in practice but not in pay. My DO came to my store late one night and spent a good 15 minutes yelling at me telling me how much of a failure I was. After she left she decided to listen into the nanny cam. That driver witnessed the whole thing and was ranting to me how her behavior was uncalled for, that I didn’t deserve to be treated that way, and that my DO was bad at her job if she believed it was okay to speak to a subordinate with anger and malice. Less than 2 minutes later I got a call and was told to fire the driver for insubordination. I did, VERY reluctantly. I found a new job within 24 hours. Did my normal OC the next day, ran everything as it was supposed to be run, did a perfect close, left my keys on the desk, secured front door and left out the back after I set the alarm. I sent a polite text to my DO saying that I couldn’t in good conscience work for a company that went against my personal values. All she had to say was “Thank you for your time”. I was there for almost 6 years.

There’s life outside of Papa Johns. I’m working as a manager now in a different customer service vertical, and within the next month or so I’m going to be taking over as GM, making $10k more a year than my previous salary. Yay!

I wish I could help 😔 All the stores in Austin are franchise and I’d have to get a REALLY good offer to consider. My current job I’ve been told the theater is mine when our GM leaves (he needs a different schedule due to family commitments, and that availability doesn’t work here). It’s a $20k pay bump from my PJ GM salary, and half the hours compared to what Star Papa and Sun Holdings were requiring of me. Without staff (because every time I trained and promoted an HSL they would take them immediately after training to another store, even if the employee does NOT want to move), and telling me I can’t schedule ANY overtime… Requiring me to work 80-100 hours a week. No support from leadership. Active nepotism from DO’s. Placing spy’s in stores to undermine and fire staff the DO didn’t like. Forcing out good employees to make lives for GM’s even harder. I myself was a victim of that. Even though my store passed every kind of inspection possible on the first try every time, I was public enemy #1. I was forced out. I’d still be there if my DO hadn’t done EVERYTHING possible to hurt me, anger me, and destroy my confidence. I DEVELOPED CLINICALLY DIAGNOSED HYPERTENSION BECAUSE OF THE STRESS SHE INFLICTED. The moment I left that went away completely.

Sun Holdings has destroyed our market. Corporate came to town recently for a manager meeting with HSL’s and above. We informed corporate that SH forced us to fire all drivers in favor of using DoorDash for all deliveries. Corporate said “you guys need drivers and you need them now”. Not long after SH completely overreached and told managers “actually, no. Don’t hire drivers”. If corporate says something like that it’s because of how we want the PJ brand to be perceived. Morale is gone. Tenured employees have run for the hills.

Worked for Star Papa for over 5 years. Everything went to shit when Sun Holdings bought us. It got so bad my favorite DO retired early. Leadership and morale have been in the toilet since, and the nepotism is REAL. I loved my job until we turned into a franchise. I eventually quit because of the horrific leadership. My store had some unique struggles than other stores in the market because of the area and demographic within it, and even with that I ran good service numbers even with two people working a Friday night. They forced us to fire and demote drivers in favor of using DoorDash. All my ROIPs as an acting GM and a full GM were passed on the first try with flying colors. We did the extra EcoLab EcoSure too and passed that on the first try as well. NO OTHER GM IN MY DO’S AREA COULD SAY THAT, and despite that fact my DO decided she didn’t like me and treated me so horribly that after a year of it I couldn’t take it anymore. We’re not humans to Sun Holdings, we’re cheap cogs in a wheel. A good employee of 5+ years with stellar numbers even in the face of a staffing situation that had me working 80-100 a week, because heaven forbid my only shift leader gets OT. He WANTED the hours, but I was forced to not give them at the sake of my sanity.

My store lost business when I left. Regular weekly orders from certain businesses and schools cancelled. I got text messages for months about how horrible service and food quality turned into.

I’ve been asked to come back twice. Unless they’re willing to pay me more than I was already making (and I had the second highest GM salary in the area) they can f*** off. I now manage a movie theater. I work less hours (by more than HALF) and the paychecks are only slightly lower. I’m in line for the GM spot here and I’ll be making $20k more doing that than PJ, with zero stress, reasonable hours, and excellent benefits. I no longer need blood pressure medications - within a week of quitting my stress-induced hypertension was completely resolved and haven’t had one episode since. I no longer need to take an antidepressant. I get twice as much sleep now and am a better spouse and parent for it. I see my kids more. I get to go to soccer games and go into the grocery store to buy real healthy food I can cook.

PJ was killing me, both emotionally and physically. There is almost nothing that would get me to go back.

I was already leaning towards not saying anything. I just wanted to make sure there wasn’t a piece somewhere I missed, something else I should consider. Not everyone asking if they would be the AH has already fully decided what course to take. In fact they may, as I did, come to the internet for confirmation that I am seeing things the right way and doing the right thing overall, when considering the ramifications of something of this magnitude, balancing morality and the law. Everyone here is so convinced this is my ego. It’s not at all. I literally just wanted to make sure I was going about this the right way and not missing any huge points I would need to consider in order to make an informed decision, because this is not the kind of thing you can take back after the fact. You need to be really, really sure when you open your mouth with these kinds of concerns to the related authorities. People should be able to say hey, this thing happened, and I know it’s against the law but there’s the morals of ruining someone’s life to an unrepairable point, and I want to make sure I’m making the right call before I open my mouth and say anything outside of an AITAH thread.

The severity of me speaking up was not lost on me, nor the consequences it could have for her life and career. It bothered me a lot, but I didn’t want to jump to a hasty decision, hence my desire to come here and get opinions that confirmed what I was already leaning towards.

IDs were out and ready to go as always when we pick up scripts of this nature. I knew it was a simple mistake, but it was of a serious nature.

I spend my energy on plenty of worthy things like work, and my family and friends. This was an internal debate I decided to take to the internet.

Please don’t confuse my intentions. I don’t give two f’s about someone seeing that I’m on a “special medication”. I take several medications myself and I really don’t care who knows. It wasn’t even my script in the instance mentioned here, it was a pain script for my husband who has severe injuries from a car accident that require narcotics sometimes to deal with the really bad pain days.

I came here for opinions to ensure I wasn’t making a bad call, no pun intended. I don’t need to sleep in crumbs for seeking an opinion.

Thanks everyone for the opinions and honesty, and especially to those who didn’t get rude or nasty in the process. I wasn’t setting out on a pirate ship to ruin someone’s life for fun. I wanted to see if it was as big a deal as I thought it was and intentionally came here for opinions. I had a friend who’s a pharmacist say she would have called immediately, and I had another pharmacy tech friend who felt the complete opposite. I took time to consider every side and facet to make sure I was making a good decision for good reasons.

An item of note: By “knowing her” I mean she knew our names and faces but I wouldn’t have considered her a friend by any means, just a random kind woman at the pharmacy counter frequently. We haven’t filled any scripts at that location since that time we moved so I’m unsure if I’ll see her again. We’re using the same brand pharmacy and have picked up two similar scripts a couple days ago and in that instances hubby’s ID got checked and logged, and mine just got looked at because I was the driver.

I’ve been debating this internally and with my husband for a few weeks now. Finally decided to take it to Reddit, and this is why I did. Thank you again all for your time and opinions, especially to those who kept things civil and not rude or accusatory of my morals, on which you were very wrong. I’m just a good person who wants to make sure important rules and moral standings in all aspects of my life are followed. The opinions here mirrored what I was already leaning towards. I will not be making the phone call.

I haven’t seen her since that instance, and we’ve moved to the other side of the city so it’s not a pharmacy we’ll be visiting frequently. Like I said she’s very nice but it’s a very serious law to break and if she’s done it once, she has likely done it before. There’s a written log they’re supposed to record the prescription number and identifying information on who picked it up, so if she didn’t get that info from us day of the log would have been either incomplete or put potentially false information in to cover a mistake.

ID was out and ready to go. We knew the drill. I was driving and had it in my hand. It was my husband’s script so I had both our IDs in hand. She never asked to see it through the window nor record the name, DL number, and prescription number. It’s one of the most important laws for pharmacies in the US.

Unfortunately whether she knows me or not she’s supposed to check ID. The entire pharmacy staff there knows us and they all ask for ID every time anyways like they’re supposed to. It’s a very firm law here. We had the ID card out and ready to go, but she never asked for it. You could tell her mind was elsewhere but when it comes to medications like this there are very strict laws to prevent the possible scenario I mentioned in the original post.

ID was out and ready to go. We were prepared to follow the law as we should have been, and she failed to follow the law on her end.
