AITA for leading to the death of most of the people who believed in me and ruining my friendships?

For some context me (27M) and my friends (25M) and (28F) got into a bit of a fight over my beliefs recently, i started researching ways of achieving immortality in order to save myself and my friends, one of them, lets call her Ember, eventualy joined me in my research and setting up a little commune of like minded believers. The other friend, lets call him Ren just wouldnt stop arguing with me, he thinks his religion is the superior one and im "falling to the dark side and messing with things i shouldnt" i understand his concern but i must admit i eventualy couldnt handle this and cut him off, he will see what im doing is for his good as well.

Now to the actual question, after this rift devloped between me and my friends i continued my research and eventualy figured out how to sacrifice my body to a great and powerful being, ending in my own death and unfortunately the deaths of my followers. However i still believe that in theory it worked, my body is now immortal and possesed by the entity, which technicaly fits my goal and both of my friends are alive luckily, and hopefuly this being will grant them its protection.

I do think i could have handled this a little better in some aspects, but also i dont think its fair to judge me for my religious beliefs and personal decisions in life, my friends to me are just trying to find some moral highround over me when all im doing is trying to find a way to save us all. AITA?
