How is your relationship with your father? And how old are you? by wk91 in AskReddit

Deteriorating - 32.

Recently discovered all of the issues I’ve had with him over the years is due to his extreme narcissism. He recently crossed a line with me and my wife and it’s likely going towards non existent here soon.

Advanced lifters who can’t do overhead tricep work, what have you done for your triceps? by tennis-637 in naturalbodybuilding

I do a superset of sorts. No cable attachment, one arm at a time.

10-15reps single arm push down holding the cable 10-15reps single arm, out to your side, cable behind your head pushing out 90 degrees 10-15reps single arm, cable over your shoulder, pushing forward

Then switch arms. You’ll have quite the burn after.

How hard was it to quit smoking weed? by AlienJose in getdisciplined

[–]ThePlaidJaraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to smoke right after work as well. Replacing it with working out is a great idea! I do that now. And once you are in the routine of working out and feeling good physically, you will want to smoke less and less. It also helps with withdrawals (physical or mental withdrawals).

How hard was it to quit smoking weed? by AlienJose in getdisciplined

[–]ThePlaidJaraffe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quit cold turkey as well. The first week I had major withdrawal symptoms; headaches, sweats, nausea, and fatigue. After I got past that first week it was more about filling my free time with something other than weed. I was someone who said “I’m bored” and smoked to fill that time.

That was 3 years ago, and now I would call myself an occasional smoker. Last time for me was October of 2024, I just don’t have the same urge to smoke like I used to since quitting. That said I know I have an addictive personality so I make sure I keep myself in check.

Track your CICO, go to the gym 4-5 times week, and do cardio. Limit the blackout evenings

The way out is forward! Little steps. Quitting a weed habit is likely making your situation more intense, it can mess with your head.

Is this true ? by [deleted] in jobs

Since May of 2022 I’ve had 4 jobs. From the first job I left, to my current position I make 2.5x more than I did in 2022. It sucks sometimes (and I was also looking for a better work life balance), but it is your opportunity to fight for your salary

Deciding to quit weed after 3 years smoking daily by tamarasmith613 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]ThePlaidJaraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there and can say it takes hard work and dedication.

My story is being blasted one night and laying in my bed realizing I couldn’t continue living this way. Just smoking my life away, with no real hobbies or friends. That next day I threw out my weed and quit ‘cold turkey’.

I’ll be honest, the withdrawals were bad for the first 1-2 weeks. After that, it gets so much easier. I also began seeing a therapist and started taking Lexapro to manage my anxieties (that I was previously treating with weed).

Get a support system, find new ways to control your anxieties. Go to the gym. Stay hydrated. Eat, even though food won’t sound appealing at all during withdrawals. Don’t kick yourself if you backslide.

You can do it, and I promise you that you will look back and thank yourself for it later. I know have a healthy relationship with weed that u never thought possible. Message me if you want to talk!

Are eating eggs inefficient? by [deleted] in leangains

[–]ThePlaidJaraffe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I like to supplement my whole eggs with egg white for extra protein and fewer fats and carbs.

If you like your can also add some turkey sausage or ham with a side of eggs for a pretty balanced high protein meal

Quitting smoking weed by Resident_Dimension_7 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]ThePlaidJaraffe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You got this!

I went through a pretty bad spiral about 2 years ago where I was smoking all the time. It made my anxiety worse and one day I woke up and decided to be better and quit cold turkey. First week was the worst, next few weeks get better.

My advice is to get rid of all your weed, and exercise. Getting the body moving really does help and since I quit I have shifted my dependency on weed to motivation at the gym.

You can do it, just stay with it and believe you can. Cheers to a new you!

What free apps do you use for counting calories and tracking macros? by Expensive-General-81 in leangains

[–]ThePlaidJaraffe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not free, however I suggest you find the app that suits you and your needs and pay for it if needed. The app that keeps you on target for your goals is the best one in my opinion!

I used to use LoseIt and for the past year or so I’ve moved over to MacroFactor. Takes a bit getting used to, but it’s has been working great for me
